Deregister and Turn Off iMessage

You may need to turn off iMessage if you are now using a non-Apple phone and can't get SMS or text messages someone sends you from an iPhone.

Whenever I was not using an iPhone and an iPhone user sent me an "SMS", it got lost. Until I turned off iMessage on iPhone. There was no way to do that without an iPhone. Now there is.

doesn't work for me:

If you didn't turn off or deactivate iMessage before switching to a non-Apple phone, other iOS devices will still try to use iMessage to send text messages to your phone number.

If you still have your iPhone, follow these steps to turn off iMessage and deregister your phone number:
1.If you transferred your SIM card from the iPhone to a non-Apple phone, put it back in the iPhone.

I followed These steps but didn't receive an SMS. Then a clicked on "Didn’t receive a code?"
