— Sonos Support Team (@SonosSupport) October 30, 2015Most streams are MP3 or AAC, but some sources have switched to HLS. BBC is one of them. Apple Music is another. HLS streaming is now in beta on Sonos. Important for those in the UK. And soon for all of us.

Although MP3 and AAC are audio-encoding algorithms, HLS is just a slightly different means of transport, isn't it? So the audio-encoding would be the same.
