The man who answered the call to save BlackBerry
by Volker Weber
The Washington Post interviewed Chen in a quiet Bay Area conference room on a rainy afternoon for about an hour. He discussed everything from the influence of his Catholic high school to why almost no job is beneath a person to how he plans to rescue BlackBerry.
This is the kind of manager you want.

someone inspired to save Windows Phone?
Read that again. Or read it. He's not saving a phone. He is trying to save a company.
There is a very key phrase in that interview.
"Everybody’s going to be hacked."
Sad to say, a lot of people have been hacked and just don't know it. And there are a lot of people who just don't care if they are hacked. Joe Public do not really care about security. It doesn't even cross their mind... until it's too late.
BlackBerry has has been, and always will be, a security Company. But as I said, most people don't care about security.
It's also clear that, in his earlier days, he worked for good and progressive companies. There are far too many (certainly talking about the UK) that take, but give nothing back: that invest nothing in training, encouraging and supporting their employees, sometimes citing competition, or 'the economy' as a reason why they cannot do so.
Note: his company paid him back his self-investment of $2000. That's a rare thing.
