Day #10 :: BlackBerry DTEK50 is still lying

DTEK60 got its November Security Patch on day #1. PRIV followed on day #5. Now it's day #10 and DTEK50 still says its up to date.

Meanwhile, BlackBerry is completely tone deaf:

DTEK60 and DTEK50 have the baked-in security to satisfy the strictest security sticklers. Both have the security features, including a hardened Linux kernel, a secure boot process, government-grade encryption by default, first-to-arrive, ongoing Android updates, and the integrated DTEK privacy-protection app

This is madness. BlackBerry scrambles to fix Android on day #1 and then they fumble the ball in distribution. Adding insult to injury, the company cannot even explain what is happening. Absolute radio silence.

No, these are not carrier devices. They come directly from BlackBerry. Incredible.

Same here. Again, I bought two DTEK50 for my wife and myself because of Blackberry's promise of superiour firmware maintenance compared to other vendors.

Hanno, this can be fixed. But BlackBerry first needs to own the problem.

I am on the beta program for the Dtek50. Even no beta version available yet. Absolute radio silence on the beta forum for Dtek50 too.
Makes me wonder if they have the workforce to support multiple Android handsets.
Or the Dtek50 is 2nd class device...

I would understand if BlackBerry had piled all resources on the DTEK60 launch. But they would need to guide expectations of DTEK50 users if that were the case. After all, they did fix the PRIV.

If you don't have a beta, I can stop checking for the DTEK50 release. My understanding was that the beta was already out since late October. That does not seem to be the case as I just learned.

Last Beta build is from Oct. 14th - AAH108 (including Security Patch Level Oct. 5th)

Christoph Spitz, 2016-11-16

That is my _release_,

Still no update as of today.
