Another reason to not buy from Samsung

by Volker Weber

There is a new attack vector for Bluetooth. It affects almost all devices. This is how vendors reacted to it:

Google issued a security bulletin and a fix for Android a few days before the disclosure. We all know how long it may take to get this fix into OEM Android devices. Microsoft fixed Windows months ago. Apple had already mitigated the problem. Linux is just updating.

And Samsung? They did not give a sh!t. Samsung makes great hardware and terrible software.

I was hoping Samsung would be able to shake its heritage as an applicance company (build it, ship it, forget it), but it doesn't look like that's going to happen.
.
They have done this in other product facets - Refrigerators with touchscreen panels that they never update the software for, washing machines, etc.
.
Looks like one leading way forward in the android realm is Android One devices. Multivendor devices that get committed OS updates and (more importantly) security updates.
Samsung will not likely *ever* be an Android One vendor..

Samsung absolutely gives a sh!t.
It's October 1st now and still no September security update available for my Galaxy S7 :-/

And also no update for the Gear S3, which is affected by Blueborne too...

No more Samsung products for our household. Never.
