Sonos before and after
by Volker Weber
been a huge Sonos fan for years, so I’m mystified how they managed to completely fubar the whole system w/ awful recent UI & system updates

Brian Krebs has indeed been a huge Sonos fan. As have I. Then something changed. And I can smell it. This is former CEO and Sonos founder John MacFarlane commenting on Apple's decision not to ship the HomePod before it is ready.
These calls are why I respect Apple so much. They are what separates the great product companies from those that wish they were. Values at work.

Sonos is missing his guidance. Sonos One shipped before it was done. So did the Sonos 8.0 software. Alexa is half-baked. It will eventually be OK. But Sonos should fix things before shipping.
BTW: Alex Warning until this Friday.

The iPhone app is completely counter intuitive.
Just one of many inconsistencies:
To view the menu bar at the bottom you need slide from the currently playing song from the top to the bottom.
Arrgh - A top-down move raises the menu bar from the bottom upwards ?!*#
Everybody involved in such a design should be fired.
"Everybody involved in such a design should be fired."
No personal attack implied or intended but fired? Really? Can we try and be a little less hostile over what are, at the end of the day, trivial things?
Everybody in the family hates the new Sonos App. I used it a lot and i am still confused.
On top of this the Alexa integration has issues.
Ok Jason, you are right, we should not fire people just because they desgin a counter intuitive user interface.
The people involved in this design should be offered a second chance as an accountant.
Yes, the new app is fubar. Caught myself not using Sonos, because it has become such an annoyance.
I have moved to the Spotify app.
the amazon discounts are up and running already - on the one, play:1, play:3, play:bar and play:base
