I love document scanning with Office Lens. The same functionality is also included in OneNote. Instead of hitting the plus sign to insert a page, hit the camera icon to scan a document. OneNote will create the page automagically. Also works for whiteboards.

I had to abandon OneNote when they did not allow local storage of your notebooks anymore. Corporate IT unfortunately loves blocking everything, so they block OneDrive too.
This forced me to use Apple Notes App.
Turns out to be a great alternative and with the latest updates it also gives you the scan feature. A few features less but all integrated onboard.

Corporate IT too often is the Preventer of Information Services. If you are using Apple Notes, where is your backup in case PoIS feels the urge to wipe it?

Also works during presentations to snap the slides. Works best with slides with white background

Volker, PoIS - like that term, need to share this with the colleagues (aka the other victims). The backup is in iCloud, tied to personal iCloud-Account. Mobile Devices are BYOD, so PoIS can only wipe the corporate profile there. MacBook is company-provided and allowed to access corporate network, but Macs are an exception. Strangely sync against iCloud works (at least as long as VPN is not activated).
So back to note taking - as I was forced into Apple Notes, I have started to like it. Basic formatting options but sync fast across all devices.
And document scanning was a good feature addition.

I think it's quite nice, but it can't keep up with Scanner Pro. Neither does Apple Notes.
Especially under not-so-good lighting conditions, Scanner Pro is much better.

Something is very wrong, Jens. PoIS cannot block access to iCloud if it's your device. And blocking OneDrive but not iCloud is ... well.

Do you employ Mordac?

Mordac runs our IT department. I just did not know his real name until now... we have not talked about proxy policies yet.

Which platform is this on? On iOS I only see a plus icon for a new page, no camera. Or asking differently, on which screen or in which area would I need to look for the camera?

I switched from Evernote to Apple Notes (migration was a snap), and haven't looked back. It's nice and simple, I hope they keep it that way: that was Evernote's undoing IMHO.

I took a look at OneNote along the way, but its UI is too busy for me and my simple note-taking needs. (I also have an intense dislike of Microsoft's ludicrous sign-in process!)

Coincidentally, I found the answer to the "which platform" question - even though with a different notion of "platform" than I had expected. Apparently, this is only available on iPhone, not on iPad. I would have hoped it would be on all iOS apps.
