Techcrunch :: #deletefacebook
by Volker Weber
Facebook is using us. It is actively giving away our information. It is creating an echo chamber in the name of connection. It surfaces the divisive and destroys the real reason we began using social media in the first place – human connection.
It is a cancer.
All my Facebook entries are gone, as are all my Instagrams. I am keeping less than a hundred of my tweets at all times.
You have to start getting rid of your liabilities. ASAP. It is going to take a while.

A good way to start. But is it really possible to delete your posts or do they just hide them?
Facebook never forgets. But when your idiot friends play quizzes or "How do I look like a movie star" your data cannot be harvested.
Most importantly: stop feeding the surveillance machine.
I think LinkedIn is much more relevant than Facebook. Microsoft has far more incentive and potential to harvest your much more relevant data than Facebook.
What tools do you use for the cleanup. Facebook doesn’t seem to have a Cleaner tool (Nor the others)
I have done it many moons ago. But there is now a Chrome piugin that deletes old entries.
I read a good post from Rafe Needleman on Medium today that I would like to link here. Unfortunately I cannot.
Instructions:
1. Select all text in address bar
2. Copy
3. Place cursor in comments field here
4. Paste
5. Hit preview
The tool works fine. Thank you.
Why do you stop Instagram?
Same company, heading the same way.
Do you have any recommendation for a free Tweet deletion tool? tweetdeleter mentioned in the linked article does cost quite a lot if you want it to be useful
Nope. I delete them daily. Start walking.
