Impressed with iOS 12

As a general rule, I don't run beta software, especially not the first version, and never on anything vital for my workflows. That is why the iPhone X is off limits. But I did install iOS 12 on an iPhone 6, without S or Plus. That is the oldest iPhone still in operation at vowe's magic flying circus. Color me impressed. It is indeed more snappy than iOS 11. Usually things get slower when you upgrade your iPhone to a more recent firmware, but not this time.
Somewhat emboldened, I also installed iOS 12 on the iPad Pro 9.7, which happens to be the newest iPad here, the oldest one being a first gen iPad mini, but that is no longer supported, like the iPad 3 that is still going strong with the old folks.
If you compare those screens, you will find I don't use many apps, and I like to keep the icons in the same place. On the iPad, you can also see that the time moved from the middle to the left corner, indicating there might be a notch in a future iPad.
Next up: Installing watchOS 5 on the Series 2, while the Series 3 remains on watchOS 4.

How stable does it seem to be? Really wanting to be able to use Waze with Car Play.
Zum Glück hab ich auch mehrere iOS Devices zum Testen der neuen Beta. Viel interessanter finde ich aber die neue OS X Version, da muß ich mich wohl noch gedulden bis zur offenen Beta.
@Amy: It seems very stable for a first Beta to me. But to use apps, that use iOS12 Features u would have to wait until the final release to get the apps for it too.
I could not wait to get background audio playback apps for my watch. (Spotify, Overcast)
I did a workout without my iPhone and just the watch yesterday. Standalone Strava + Podcast. Loved it.
Nach rund 10 Jahren MacOS / OSX gebe ich in Kürze auf. Die Notebooks entsprechen einfach nicht mehr meinen persönlichen Anforderungen.
Insofern ist dann auch die OpenGL/CL Abkündigung für mich eher irrelevant. Ich hatte und habe aber für gelegentliche Spiele immer einen Desktop unter dem Schreibtisch.
Nachdem mein nächster Laptop dann mit Linux läuft zähle ich aber wohl eher nicht zur typischen Zielgruppe.
Im Mobilfunk- sowie im Smartwatchbereich bleibt Apple für mich aber das Maß aller Dinge. Und eigentlich hätte ich auch gerne ein neues iPad Mini denn ich möchte in absehbarer Zeit wieder öffentlich pendeln und da käme mir ein flexibles Gerät sehr gelegen.
Die Softwarepflege unter Android bleibt leider weiterhin eine einzige Enttäuschung, sonst käme eventuell auch so etwas wie ein HUAWEI MediaPad M5 in Frage.
@Henning: Es soll ja quasi eine iPhone X Plus kommen. Das ist ja fast in etwa schon die Größe eines iPad Mini.
Upgrading my iPhone X went super smooth. No rough edges so far, all important (aka used) apps work great.

Mit iOS 12 sollen die AirPods ja angeblich als „Hörhilfe“ dienen können. Unterstützt die Beta das schon, hat das hier schon mal jemand ausprobiert (habe leider kein iDevice zum Ausprobieren)?
