Siri has completely replaced Alexa

I started out with Alexa on Echo Dot, then Sonos One, Echo Dot and Echo Show. After Apple released HomePod that got added to the mix. I switched from Spotify to Apple Music and I was no longer talking to Alexa about Music. Recently I have had only false positives where Alexa thought she had been summoned when she hadn't. One Echo after the other was shut off so it would no longer interfere and by now we are only talking to Siri. It's basically everywhere. iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, HomePod. Only on Mac I never call Siri.

I wound up doing the same thing - retiring Alexa.

Apple gets enough momey from me, so, with a great European alternative for music streaming available, Alexa can keep her job :) (not really many false positives over here)

We really only use Alexa to play Amazon Music which is free since I have Prime anyway. Occasionally I might ask her to turn off a light but that has become much more rare. I never really used her for much else.

Alexa, addressed as “Computer” in my household, can play Beethoven’s 7th when asked, but insists to use his 5th when asking to use it as wakeup song. #roomforimprovement

Is the false-positives maybe a Sonos ONE issue? Getting really annoying here.

Martin Hiegl, 2018-11-15

Very few false positives with Alexa here. Using various Echo devices, no Sonos devices, to talk to her.

John Keys, 2018-11-15

Martin, it's an issue across all Alexa devices. Sonos One has really hard time to pick up the "Alexa" command at all, so it has fewer false positives and a lot more false negatives. For now I have switched off the Alexa feature on Sonos one and powered down all Echos. They are just not in use anymore.

The Echo Spot next to the TV got retired. To many false positives and w.t.h. can't I use it to control the Fire TV attached to the TV?
The Echo Spot in the vestibule is also almost useless, apart from the occasional weather check before leaving the house.
The Echo Show in the kitchen gets lots of use. Mainly adding things to the shopping list and continuing some amazon prime video streams while working in the kitchen.

Siri kann ja nicht mal richtig trennen.

Thomas Cloer, 2018-11-15

Alles korrekt beantwortet. Riesenvorteil wenn man einen 5jährigen im Haus hat, der grad voll auf dem Astronauten-Trip ist :)
