Today I bought a used MacBook Pro 13" (2017). Has AppleCare-Coverage up to 10/2020. After only 2 hours of usage, I found a sometimes unresponsive "b" or "B" (typed twice to get the char). Will try with compressed air, ut it looks like i will return to the apple store within the next 2 weeks...
Did you buy it from Apple?
No, from a student in Frankfurt, but I went with him to the AppleStore to make sure the serial is OK and the machine is not connected with a cloud.
The Service guy confirmed that if I have problems with the keyboard I could always come to get it fixed, he even provided to look at it immediately, but I didn't have enough time and will get back later.
Apple will replace the keyboard four years after purchase, even extending Apple Care. But they will only replace it with the same model. If it is a 2017 model, it does not have the third gen butterfly keyboard and is even more prone to fail.
Mich würde interessieren, ob das wirklich ein materielles Problem ist, oder es nur eine „small percentage of users“ betrifft die entsprechend laut sind. Für mich stellt sich das Problem konkret. Ich will das Jahr meinen Macbook Pro 15 ersetzen. Falls die Probleme wirklich materiell sind, ist das ein Nogo angesichts des Preises des Geräts. Zudem finde ich die neue Tastatur irgendwie unangenehm. Handkehrum hat meine Frau einen MBP 13 mit 2.Gen Butterfly, dass sie regelmässig völlig einsaut, mit dem sie aber nie Probleme hatte. Also MBP oder X1?
Wie beantwortet man das? Das Butterfly-Keyboard ist eine Fehlkonstruktion. Ich persönlich werde keins kaufen. Dazu kommt, dass Apple nicht nur die Tastatur zu flach gebaut hat, sondern das ganze Gehäuse. Damit kriegen sie die Thermik nicht in den Griff und müssen schnelle Prozessoren ausbremsen.
Es ist kein Geheimnis mehr, dass Apple an neuen Modellen mit eigenen Chips arbeitet. Die könnten dann so genial wie das iPad Pro werden. Aber die aktuelle MacBooks taugen mir nicht.
Einstweilen arbeite ich mit Windows Notebooks, weil die schneller sind als mein 2013er MacBook Pro und natürlich viel länger laufen. Was Microsoft und Lenovo im Anbebot haben, ist einfach super.
D’accord mit Deiner Einschätzung zu den MBP. Jetzt hast Du mich völlig verwirrt. Ich warte jetzt die WWDC ab, dann entscheide ich. Ich fürchte, wenn ich auf Lenovo wechsle, ist dann meine langjährige Mac und iPad Zeit ganz vorbei.
