Constructed Needs

If you ever wondered whether the tech business is thrashing around in search of something – anything – to make people Buy More Unneeded Stuff, Samsung’s Galaxy Fold is all the proof you need. Heralded as the first phone that unfolds to become a tablet, or possibly the first tablet that folds up into a phone, its worldwide launch has now been delayed because the units sent to some reviewers broke.
Smartphone makers are in the same spot as TV makers now. Smartphones last too long, and they work just fine. The industry desperately needs to find new solutions to needs yet to be constructed.
“Some people say, "Give the customers what they want." But that's not my approach. Our job is to figure out what they're going to want before they do. I think Henry Ford once said, "If I'd asked customers what they wanted, they would have told me, 'A faster horse!'" People don't know what they want until you show it to them. That's why I never rely on market research. Our task is to read things that are not yet on the page.”

Apple hat aber kein iPhone Fold angekündigt (bis jetzt).
Das ist der Punkt.
Wenn das noch so läuft wie damals, dann kommen die irgendwann mit einem Formfaktor oder Design, das niemand auf dem Schirm hatte.... eben weil wir es ja noch nicht wussten....
