Imagine a dark forest at night. It’s deathly quiet. Nothing moves. Nothing stirs. This could lead one to assume that the forest is devoid of life. But of course, it’s not. The dark forest is full of life. It’s quiet because night is when the predators come out. To survive, the animals stay silent.

Am I the only one struggling with that analogy? Plenty of animals call or make other noises at night (and no, they are not all predators like owls). And plenty predators don't hunt by sound, they hunt by smell, temperature, ultrasound and more.

If animals keep their head down they do that just as much during the day as during the night. Plenty of predators hunting during the day, probably even more so than during the night.
