This has been a whopper. Tim jumped right in and skipped his usual State of Apple address and kicked it right off. Instead of a boring iPhone event, Apple is burning down the house.
Apple Arcade: Exclusive games with subscription in 150 countries on Sept 19. One month free trial. $5 for a month for the whole family. That is a no-brainer for people who like to play. (Not me.)
Apple TV+: Available in 100 countries, starting Nov 1 for $5 a month for the whole family. If you buy a new iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, or Macbook you get one year free.
New 7th gen iPad: Now 10.2" display with 3.5 MPixel. A10 Fusion chip. Smart connector for Smart Keyboard Cover. Supports Pencil. From 379 € starting Sep 30.
Apple Watch Series 5: Aluminium, Stainless Steel, Ceramic, Titanium. Always-on display, compass, international emergency call service on LTE models. From 449 € and 549 € for LTE models. Series 3 now from 229 €.

My favourites are the dark green Pro Max, the Always-On Watch display and the Apple TV+ for a very low price.
We have a very similar taste, Volker. ;-)
Still waiting for a comparison between iPhone 11 and Pro. Currently still happy with my iPhone Xs and not sure if the camera is enough for an upgrade.
My series 3 watch will probably be replaced pretty soon. :)
Don't upgrade from X, 8 and newer.
When will iOS 13 be available of existing iPhone users? ... just asking ...

Für mich persönlich sind die neuen Features der Apple Watch 5 verzichtbar. Dafür wird es die nächsten Wochen bestimmt gute Schnäppchen-Angebote für die Apple Watch 4 geben. Die Händler wollen ja ihr Lager leer bekommen.
How impressions differ ... AFAIK the most boring keynote ever. No inventions ... just more same same but different.
Ich mag Apple... aber ich bleibe beim XR und der Series 3 .. alles andere war lightning and smoke ;-)
Of course you don't upgrade from XR or Watch 4.

Great event - actually the titanium always-on Series 5 is quite interesting ... just not sure if international emergency calls would finally mean that regular roaming is supported..
11 pro in green reminds me somehow of this Imac G3 sage from 2000 featuring Kermit ;)
I don't think it does. Emergency calls don't require a SIM. Roaming is difficult for two reasons: charges and call handling.
Tile must be relieved. For now.
Kann deine Begeisterung nicht nachvollziehen. Inkrementelle Updates, früher wäre das ein S hintendran gewesen. Überrascht haben mich nur die beiden 4,99-Preise. Viel Content gibt es aber auch erstmal nicht bei Apple TV+. Und eine Uhr, die jetzt immer etwas anzeigt? Nun ja.
Und nebenbei bemerkt: die Apple Watch Armbänder wurden im Preis reduziert.

I do not get the euphoria. There is nothing breathtaking. But these are pretty good updates. Apple did their homework and ironed out lots of the flaws of the existing models. There is nothing to dislike — other than the overall look of the iPhone backsides and the new colors, but maybe this is just me and there is still black, white and the gorgeous red. Judgement on Apple Arcade I would like to leave to gamers. Apple TV+ looks like a very slow soft start. I do not think they expect too many paying subscribers in the first year.
Very underwhelming iPhone launch, nothing new here, the TV and Gaming could be interesting if they have the content, but their is a lot of competition especially for TV.
I am sceptical as well. But maybe only because this is the first iPhone since the 4, that - in my opinion - is really ugly.
The watch is interesting though. But I do own the 4, so there is no reason to spend money.
Volker, your post might be a bit on the ironic side?
I’m not really a gamer, but once in a while I dream of getting a switch for me and my son. When I look at the sheer horsepower of the A11 and combine this with what I read about P2P connectivity between Phones, I would love to see a gaming mode where the phone connects to a TV and the phone itself becomes a controller, also allowing multiplayer modes.
Maybe there are details that kill the idea (not enough haptic feedback on phone?), but it could be interesting.
Keine weltverändernden Neuigkeiten ;-) Aber solide Updates ... manche werden das langweilig finde. Ich finde es o.k. Mann muss nicht immer zwanghaft versuchen das Rad neu zu erfinden.
Meine Apple Watch 4 wird mich noch länger begleiten ... und das ist o.k. so.
Beim iPhone 11 Pro, ja ich habe das X und ich liebe es. Aber die Kamera ist tatsächlich mal wieder der Grund warum ich schwach werden könnte.
Insbesondere nach der Präsentation von Filmic. Interessant auch, dass ein Feature eines Drittanbieters im Saal die signifikant größte Reaktion hervorgerufen hat.
@Frank Quednau - Nintendo tried something like that with the WiiU and failed miserably. The reason the Switch is a success is that they combined a great hardware package with amazing 1st party games and a 3rd party game catalog that rivals anything else. If Apple wants to make a dent in the gaming market in terms of the revenue they control, they need a controller that connects to both the phone and appletv. give me the mobile and the in home experience like a switch. Because if you are serious about gaming, Apple isn't even on the radar.
