Three holiday ads :: Which is your favorite?
by Volker Weber
Which one do you like best? This is my all-time favorite ad.

The Microsoft one. When watching the Apple one I just kept thinking that the children shouldn't be just constantly dumped on the Tablet.
Microsoft's is funny but not brilliant. Agree with David on Apple's, they don't know how to raise children. John Lewis' new one is dull. John Lewis' old one ('Always a woman') is brilliant and moving - by far the best!
... although I realize I didn't answer your question :)
Apple's made me cry - on both viewings.
The Microsoft ad makes a good point in a cute way. The Apple one glorifies bad behaviour with blatant emotional manipulation, rather like their product line. The Waitrose ad's message is rather lost on me. So I agree with Volker - the John Lewis ad. Of the current 3, the Microsoft one, the best of a bad lot.
Apple, definitely. Very touching. Then Waitrose. And then Microsoft.
...and your favorite one is a very lovely one.
Apple - hands down. Even though they way the shut up their kids handing them the iPad all the time is very questionable.
I don't get Waitrose.
Microsoft is witty, but not emotional.
Waitrose first, it has a story and cats in it.
then Microsoft, kind of funny.
Don't like Apple. Yes, emotional, but don't be like that to your children. Just don't
To me Apple target group seems to be the same as those people who think it is ok to replace quality time with their kids by gifts bought at the airport five minutes before boarding: "Sorry, I won't be here for your birthday but I got you this funny doll.."
Volker, I agree with your all time favorite. To answer your question though: Apple hands down. It might be a bit unfair since the Apple one is three times as long, however, the beauty of the kids "making something out of it" by tackling the biggest issue is something that is "priceless".
You might like to have a look at something the other end of the advertising budget scale which pulls almost as many heart strings as the big players. A hardware store in a small town in West Wales has produced a Christmas video apparently for only 100 GBP. Look for Hafod Hardware on YouTube.
Lovely! Thanks, David. And you can paste the link right here: https://youtu.be/pDtCXO71FJU
