Jitsi Meet Desktop Clients

by Volker Weber

Jitsi nutzt WebRTC als Protokoll und funktioniert in Chrome und Chromium. Da nicht jeder so einen Browser hat, kann man Jitsi auf dem Desktop auch in einer Electron App nutzen, die den Browser eingebaut hat:

Oh, this looked like an exciting Raspberry Pi project. Get a Jitsi server running on Pi 4 using Docker. Unfortunately, there isn’t an arm build of the project yet and it’s probably a bit much for a humble pi.

Yes, too much load for a Pi. Use a cloud container.

Was just looking through the community chats - the Jitsi folks say they can currently support about 35 people in a video meeting simultaneously. After that, the servers aren't handling it well. They're working on that next piece & hope to have it in place quickly, which may be a good alternative for my groups who are stuck on Zoom right now. Depends on how user friendly it is. Bruce Schneier recommended it at the end of this piece about Zoom this morning: https://www.schneier.com/blog/archives/2020/04/security_and_pr_1.html
