When you want to move the default save location, for your attachments, from %TEMP% to C:\LOCAL\TEMP, than this cannot be done from a policy. We opened a case at HCL support and after 2 weeks, because support also didn’t knew how to do it, the answer came from development.

The latest saved location, and also the first you use, is a combination between the Windows registry and a notes.ini setting. Beneath is the response from support.

The last saved directory information is cached under the registry key. Below is the path. Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\ComDlg32\LastVisitedPidlMRULegacy
If you change the path while saving any attachment from the Notes Client then that will be cached in the above registry path.

We are sorry to inform you that Microsoft Windows OS is handling the last save history, Notes Client is just using the feature of the Windows OS. We have verified as below in our test environment. Added the parameter “FileDlgDirectory” back in the notes.ini file and followed the below procedure to verify the situation.
1. Shutdown Notes Client.
2. Add the parameter and set it as “FileDlgDirectory=C:\Users\TEST_FOLDER” in the notes.ini.
3. Delete the entries of “0” & “MRUListEx” under the “LastVisitedPidlMRULegacy” in the registry. Below is the path: Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\ComDlg32\LastVisitedPidlMRULegacy
4. Start the Notes Client and FileSave dialog inits to save in this location C:\Users\TEST_FOLDER

Now, when you are a new user, you are not pointed to %TEMP% anymore but to the folder the admins set for the organization.
You can change it by saving it where ever you like, and that path will be saved.
