How can I tell if a user's archive is working?

Policy settings are set for archiving data after 365 days. I have a user that has items older than one year, so I suspect archiving is not working properly for this user. How can I tell?
Thank you,
Bill

Firstly, depends on arching from last modified or created.
Next, depends on the option "Delete document only when the criteria can delete responses as well" on the advanced tab of the archive settings.
Check the properties of the messages that you think should have been archived.
NOTE1:
If a new replica of the users mail database was created, the effect of your parameters may be affected.
NOTE 2:
The notes log is a great source for this type of info, but searching it is a pain. The brilliantly useful log search tool by Jean-Yves Riverin is THE free tool for exactly this type of thing. Download it from the codebin at openntf.org and simply enter your server name and a seach string as simple as "archived" and voila! Try out other strings to get info on routing and replication. The relevant lines from the log.nsf are extracted and placed on a single page. Brilliantly simple and effective administrators info tool!
