OWA 2013 vs iNotes 9 - two products, one clear winner

iNotes 9 runs absolute rings around OWA 2013. It amazes me how limited it is. I feel very sorry for those that get downgraded to it. Just email is so 1990's...

Enabling DAOS, LZ1 and Document Compression in two clicks - The Details
Thu, Dec 11th 2014 9:45p   Adam Osborne
As outlined in my previous post, we've added a super time saving way to make sure databases are DAOS enabled. Here are the details: In this example we'll target a couple of databases that make decent candidates for DAOS participation, like most Document Libraries these are full of attachments, so these types of databases make great "low hanging fruit" for DAOS. We can see these database are currently not enabled for DAOS participation. Tick a box on Defrag.NSF's "Advanced" tab, enter

DBMT optimisation in the Real world - fantastic savings !
Mon, Dec 1st 2014 9:05p   Adam Osborne
With Defrag.NSF's DBMT optimisation set at 10% we see a reduction in compact activity of 76%. That's 76% less maintenance work for your servers. Less I/O, less transaction log changes, less full backups, the list goes on... Defrag.NSF more than just a defrag tool !!!

Almost One Million.......Almost!

On several occasions now we have had Domino and SAN storage users come to us for help with their system (NTFS and Domino) basically crippled with fragmentation, after being told "they did not need to defrag because they were using SAN storage". WRONG! Here's a screen-shot taken from one such customer, almost 1 Million fragments! Do you really think Windows, Domino and Backups were performing well, or even aware of the super expensive, high powered back-end SAN storage? NO! Repeat after

Yesterday's Blog title didn't get picked up by Planet Lotus... so I've reposted it for anyone that maybe interested: http://ab1osborne.blogspot.com.au/2014/11/recently-we-were-contacted-by-customer.html

Recently we were contacted by a customer who had been using Defrag.NSF on their servers but had stopped some time ago and realised things were starting to go downhill. This ended up being a great test case/exercise and we managed to get some very telling screenshots off the server, clearly showing the deterioration and subsequent improvement once we got things back on track. It turned out about a year had passed since the last Health Check had been run and things had definitely gotten worse, f

Save administration time and money - It's a case of getting what you pay for!
Wed, Nov 19th 2014 10:45a   Adam Osborne
Despite it's name Defrag.NSF is actually a super efficient and time-saving database maintenance "Control Centre", that does a heck of a lot more than defragging. It's integrated with the Domino Admin client, offers centralised scheduling and automation for DBMT, Compacting, Fixups, Health Reports, DAOS enablement (Watch this space for a demo of this great feature) and all fully integrated of course with our revolutionary, purpose built for Domino, defragging engine. Obviously with this ki

DLP for Traveler - stop sensitive data leaking through Traveler
Mon, Nov 10th 2014 5:46p   Adam Osborne
In a world where BYOD strategies are becoming more and more relevant, Preemptive’s DLP for Traveler provides an integrated solution for organisations to ensure valuable email data and attachments are not exposed to remote devices that cannot be secured by the organisation. DLP for Traveler inspects email destined for the mobile device for keywords and sensitivity markings in the subject line, and tells Traveler to block the content as appropriate. All the information on DLP for Traveler can

If you're going to do it, Save money and Switch to Exchange, don't migrate!
Thu, Nov 6th 2014 5:06p   Adam Osborne
Globally more and more customers are moving from Domino to Exchange or some other cloud based solution. The migration process typically comes at a significant cost, and requires the purchase of expensive migration tools that are then just 'thrown away' .There's a better way. A decade ago Preemptive Consulting developed an Email Archiving Vault that can store ALL email moving within an organisation. It provides full auditing capabilities and allows end users to retrieve their own email. The V
