Arne Sigurd Rognan Nielsen

Steve Ballmer leaves the Microsoft board and has started teaching
Wed, Aug 20th 2014 2:13p   Arne S. Nielsen
Just six months after Steve Ballmer left his job as CEO and president of Microsoft, he now also leaves his post on the Microsoft board. According to Ballmer he has “become very busy” over the last six months as he has purchased LA Clipper basketball team, focused on civic contributions, started teaching and taken up studies. To continue serving at the Microsoft board would be “impractical” as he formulates it. Ballmer is still a shareholder at Microsoft and says he will & [read] Keywords: facebook microsoft twitter

Rethink your social business strategy: Folders vs brains = 30 vs 70!
Tue, Aug 19th 2014 6:16a   Arne S. Nielsen
This presentation is made by a very skilled and dear colleague of mine, Louis Richardson, a master of storytelling and the art of making complex ideas simple and understandable! In this great presentation he is very thought provoking and points on the really important thing about utilizing the collective IQ of a company. Some creators of corporate social collaboration tools seem to forget that only 30 % of a company’s knowledge resides in folders and databases – while 70 % of the kno [read] Keywords: collaboration facebook twitter

What is social business vs social media?
Thu, Aug 14th 2014 7:12a   Arne S. Nielsen
What is social business versus social media? Today I stumbled upon a blogpost by Andrew Grill who explaines why he bets his career on social business and not social media. A great article. I define a social business in the following way… A social business is an organization whose culture and systems encourage networks of people to create business value Note the words I have highlighted: culture – people – business value. No mention of fans, followers, likes, Facebook or Twitter – just [read] Keywords: facebook twitter

Microsoft’s Yammer is not well integrated into SharePoint or other Microsoft applications

” Microsoft’s Yammer is not well integrated into SharePoint or other Microsoft applications, for example. You can get a Yammer feed into SharePoint, but can’t get SharePoint tasks into Yammer without writing code.”  In an interesting article in www.enterpriseappstoday.com on how to make employees to keep using social enterprise software, Mr. Tom Petrocelli, research director, enterprise social, mobile and cloud applications, for Neuralytix, emphasized the importance of [read] Keywords: applications enterprise facebook microsoft mobile sharepoint social software twitter

IBM Mail Next – the productivity tool that is also an email client – will make a work revolution!
Thu, Aug 7th 2014 3:12p   Arne S. Nielsen
If you believe that email is making you productive you’re wrong! Old fashioned email as you know it from Microsoft Outlook, Apple Mail and other traditional email clients is not a productivity tool – it is a messaging tool, and very often a hassle. A productivity tool, on the other hand, is something totally different and makes your daily work easier, faster, more structured, focused and effective. It is not the email that makes your work or your company more effective and competitiv [read] Keywords: collaboration domino ibm lotus notes apple email exchange exchange facebook microsoft outlook server twitter

IBM Connections Mail uses both Domino and Exchange servers
Mon, Aug 4th 2014 2:13p   Arne S. Nielsen
IBM Connections Mail just got an update! The solution is probably one of the simplest ways to work with your email within a social collaboration framework. Whether your email server is called IBM Domino or Microsoft Exchange does not matter. It makes your work day easier and more productive. According to McKinsey, when users switch from one task to another, it really affects productivity. With IBM Connections Mail you can process your inbox with minimal context switching, saving time and efforts [read] Keywords: collaboration connections domino ibm email exchange exchange facebook microsoft outlook server twitter
