IBM Smarter Planet Data Baby and Behind the Scene Footage
Thu, Mar 18th 2010 10:24p   Bilal Jaffery
IBM’s Smarter Planet team has recently released an ad on IBM’s involvement in data analysis at a local Toronto Children’s Hospital. Real, volunteered, patient data was used to create the data visualizations depicted in this spot. Through data analysis, doctors can identify danger signs and make intelligent decisions to prevent life-threatening infections. As a new daddy, this really makes me feel proud and secure knowing that we are at a stage in our research where we can proa [read] Keywords: ibm application email

Straight from WOMMA, Once a year, the President gives a State of the Union. Since there is no president of the internet, JESS3 handled the job of showing just how large these interwebs have become. You might ask “What part do I play?” How many emails did you write yesterday? 10? 20? 100? Those contributed to the 247 billion sent daily. Of those 200 billion were spam. Write a blog? Bernie Madoff. Stanford Financial. Enron. Tiger Woods. Governor Mark Sanford. Unfortunately the list goes on and on. People and companies who lost their moral compass. Leaders of high character are desperately needed today. Employees want to follow leaders of character. Customers want to buy from companies and brands of character. WIN – Dentyne “Friend Request” Commercial: 60 Connections In Every Bottle
Fri, Jan 29th 2010 4:31p   Bilal Jaffery
Many companies now include a Facebook or Twitter URL in their television commercials. Almost every cell phone provider now touts Facebook and/or Twitter connectivity in their TV spots. This playful commercial compares sharing pieces of Dentyne gum to sending and receiving friend requests on Facebook. They wrap it up up with “Dentyne: 60 connections in every bottle.” Very clever. Lotusphere 2010: What did you like and what you did NOT?
Thu, Jan 28th 2010 3:27p   Bilal Jaffery
As I work through the post-conference madness, I pondered about your feelings about the Lotusphere 2010. What did you like about it? And what you didn’t? Did you notice the subtle changes this year? From live-open twitter showcases to up and close with the executives. The fact that seniors were eager to listen to the community and actually incorporate the feedback into their plans? I would like to hear what you think so we ‘fix’ it for next year. As I work on the 2010 web stra [read] Keywords: lotus lotusphere community ideajam twitter

Why free is necessary in Digital Economy?
Sat, Sep 12th 2009 7:57a   Bilal Jaffery
Seth Godin writes, Flipping abundance and scarcity. I think it’s dangerous and often fatal to put free on top of an existing business model. Things fall apart. People look at the free revolution and say, “oh, that could never work. If I gave x, y or z away for free, I’d fail.” They’re right. They will fail… If they keep the model the same and just give away stuff for free. The way you win is by reinventing the model itself. So, for example, lululemon doing gia [read] Keywords:
