Pre-Announcement Yes, it's true...a unique Lotus User Group experience is coming your way soon.... Fri through Sunday, 25-27 February 2011 at Sunday River, ME.
The conference property will be in Bethel, Maine and is a gem. We'll have a short and memorable conference on Friday...one dinner as a group...plenty of activities on both Saturday and Sunday: Alpine skiing, Nordic skiing, snowshoeing, ice skating, and snowmobiling for starters. Enjoy a weekend conference and plenty of time with your friends and family. Beginners are welcome and encouraged, as ski lessons are available for all ability levels.
Community Involvement At this time...I am looking for a couple of developers to assist with the primary DB. I have all of the other aspects covered. The template is great but needs a bit of enhancement for the extra items needed for this type of event.
The formal announcement with all the details will be coming within a couple of weeks. In the meantime...enjoy your fall season and mark some time on your calendar.
How To Receive Ubuntu 12.04 Kernel Updates After 7 August 2014
Wed, Jul 16th 2014 1:11p Bill Malchisky Jr. Certain versions of Ubuntu have an older version of their Hardware Enablement Stack (HWE) and thus it needs to be upgraded, or on 7 August 2014 you will no longer receive kernel and graphics stack updates; all other software updates will proceed unimpeded. Below is what I learned along with excerpts from the Ubuntu wiki post on the event. The current release schedule and EOL announcements for each Ubuntu build is located here. What is HWE? Engage 2014 Slides Available
Fri, Apr 4th 2014 12:11p Bill Malchisky Jr. I published my Engage 2014 session slides to both SlideShare and My Presentations page. I took time to review the deck and decided to test further the remote access redirect slides, ultimately dramatically simplifying the steps. The result is an easy two-step process that should work fine for about 80% of use cases. If your needs exceed what I provided, please contact me and I can offer some suggestions for an alternate approach. Just remember, if your desktop system is Windows, load your X Wind [read] Keywords: administration
Wisdom on Longevity From a 96 Year Old Skier
Tue, Mar 11th 2014 4:11p Bill Malchisky Jr. George Jedenoff started skiing at the age of 43 and has been hooked ever since. Earlier this month, he once again carved some turns at Alta and Snowbird with the Ski Utah crew and talked about longevity, keeping motivated, the importance of staying fit, and how skiing has been a part of his life every single year since 1960. Hardly timid, George seeks out powder and has a wonderfully cordial demeanor, with excellent diction. Applicable life advice for even non-skiers. Enjoy this short video. [read] Keywords:

Five Old School Ski Lifts That Let You Enjoy the View
Sat, Jan 4th 2014 5:12a Bill Malchisky Jr. Just in time for the new year, the Wall Street Journal published a piece on scenic classic ski lift rides at domestic ski areas, which actually let you slow down a bit and enjoy the ride. Sure, sometimes when you seek to meet a friend at the mid-lift area quickly, the slower pace can be irksome if you grab the wrong chair, but outside of that, taking time for a nice conversation with a local, or your ski buddies makes a great day even better. This is an excellent compilation. Of course, other re [read] Keywords:
Simple Tips to Keeping Warm and Staying Safe in Winter
Sat, Jan 4th 2014 5:11a Bill Malchisky Jr. In the midst of some quite cold temperatures experienced over the northern USA this week, into the weekend and coming week, I thought I would put together a quick list with a goal to keep you warm--as this is an area of expertise for me. It is amazing that even with activities quite common for many to most, how cold people still get when say, attending a football game, shoveling snow, running errands, volunteering at an election poll, sledding, skiing, snowshoeing, etc. As I really enjoy cold we [read] Keywords:
