The magic Lotusphere 2012 Pretzel Cookie
Chris Miller

It seems that there is much debate over this tasty treat delivered in our box lunch on Thursday.  I made it a point to tell my session attendees about it and to hunt it down.  Many even gave me extras as we headed out to collapse along the lake and enjoy some sun. (Some got way too much sun that afternoon *cough* mooney *cough*)

Well the cookie is a fine balance between not being too salty from the pretzels and not too sweet from just the cookie.  The immediate way it melts in the box lunch is a sure sign that you do not need to eat it all at once, or suffer possible stomach ache.

Many of you despise it, that is fine, we will take the extras.  Others are still non-believers and many have not seen it.  So I bring to you a simple picture.

Sametime "Too Many Chat Windows Open" Warning
Wed, Aug 20th 2014 9:23a   Chris Miller
In the middle of IBM Sametime client preferences is an option to warn when you have too many chat windows open. However, it had no information. Here is what I found. This setting in your Preferences, disabled by default, will generate a warning when you have too many chat windows open. Adding to the confusion I already had is that the documentation actually uses an entry in the preferences file which does not match the UI name, making it even harder to find for the normal person. Mon, Aug 18th 2014 1:08p   Chris Miller
IBM released the IBM Notes Extended Search Plugin for IBM Notes 9 which mimics what FewClix does (without the better ui) for searching archives and email. The plugin has a basic and advanced search mode. Including the ability to add multiple conditions for further improve your search results. The plugin uses the standard IBM Notes Search engine, where FewClix built it's own index locally. Here are the key features per the website Key Features of the IBM Notes Extended Search Plugin: Can [read] Keywords: connections domino ibm lotus notes archive email interface openntf widgets

Notes Traveler: SEVERE <username> Error parsing ActiveSync message
Fri, Aug 15th 2014 9:10a   Chris Miller
If you get the Notes Traveler: SEVERE Error parsing ActiveSync message error on your IBM Lotus Traveler server console for Android users, the fix is quite simple. To remove this error from appearing on the Traveler server's console, the specified users will need to not use the device's native mail application to sync their mailfile, instead make use of the IBM Notes Traveler application/client downloaded directly from the server via the Traveler Server's URL or from the Google Play store. Is St Louis now only known as Ferguson?
Thu, Aug 14th 2014 1:03p   Chris Miller
As we watch the story unfold about the shooting in Ferguson, MIssouri many think it is a major part of St Louis. I finally decided to write a post showing the scope of size of Ferguson inside St Louis. On the right of the image is the entire State of Missouri which covers 69,709 square miles. Next to it on the left is the cutout of St Louis County which covers 524 square miles. Inside of that left image is Ferguson which covers 6.2 square miles. Yes you read that correctly. Contact delegation in Lotus Notes
Tue, Aug 12th 2014 9:13a   Chris Miller
I received an email asking about contact delegation in Lotus Notes for user to user controls. Unfortunately this is not easily done, even with the integrated contacts in the mailfile. What you are trying to do is use the mail delegation abilities to manage contacts that are stored in the mail file itself. While this option does not exist, I might have a suggestion that would work perfectly for you. Can I Throttle and Restrict SMTP Connections in Domino?
Mon, Aug 11th 2014 6:12a   Chris Miller
While most companies now use a SMTP appliance to scan for viruses and spam, you may still want to throttle connections from individual internal servers or the appliances to your IBM Domino server. This leads to questioning how Domino can throttle SMTP traffic from specific hosts. After some quick verification of what I was almost sure was not fully possible, there is a partial solution I know of. By default, the Domino SMTP service supports an unlimited number of inbound sessions; that is, as [read] Keywords: connections domino ibm server smtp

Thu, Aug 7th 2014 8:46a   Chris Miller
BlackBerry is at it again with the new BlackBerry Passport coming out. A square looking device with full 1440x1440 resolution. I have waited to write about it to read more of what it will offer. The reasons are solid Imagine getting back a real keyboard for starters. People just loved the keyboard. You also get the ability to load Android apps, which closes that compliant door. I know I have been loving my Z10 even more now that I grab anything I want from Google Play and no sideloading. [read] Keywords: blackberry google security

Belkin NetCam Wi-Fi HD+ Camera with Night Vision review
Mon, Aug 4th 2014 8:23a   Chris Miller
The Belkin NetCam Wi-Fi HD+ Camera with Night Vision (F7D7602) is a great indoor camera with automatic triggering, cloud recording ability, mobile apps and simple configuration. Let's clear something right away. The camera does what the product states it will do. While we always have plenty of suggestions for improvements, I didn't find any areas where it did not function as stated and designed. This is an indoor camera only and I would not even leave it in direct sunlight all day. You will [read] Keywords: application archive integration interface mobile network wifi

AmazonBasics Mini Ultra-Portable Bluetooth Speaker review
Fri, Aug 1st 2014 9:44a   Chris Miller
The AmazonBasics Mini Ultra-Portable Bluetooth Speaker is a great compact device with decent sound for the value. Small enough for a jacket pocket and good battery life. It does come in multiple colors. Amazon does a great job with it's AmazonBasics line of goods and makes them competitive with many major brands. This AmazonBasics Mini Ultra-Portable Bluetooth Speaker is right in line with the quality I expected. The packaging was good and the box included the speaker, a charging cable (m [read] Keywords: archive
