Kindle Fire Review - Thumbs up!
Sun, May 13th 2012 7:24p Christopher Pepin A few weeks ago, Amazon had Kindle Fire refurbished units on sale for $139. At this price, the offer to pickup the most popular Android tablet was too good to pass up and I purchased one. While far from perfect, the Fire is a capable Android tablet. The Apple iPad, however, has nothing to fear.

The application is $25 in the Apple App Store and requires a PC running Windows 8 Consumer Preview to connect to via virtualization technology. Thu, Mar 22nd 2012 9:04a Christopher Pepin I purchased an OBi110 voice service bridge and VoIP telephone adapter with the goal of replacing my business phone line and leveraging Google Voice for free calls to US and Canada. I had been using VoIP through my cable provider, Charter, for $29.99 a month plus tax. The OBi has only a one time cost for the device ($49.99) and no monthly fees using Google Voice.

BlackBerry Torch 2 smartphone - thumbs up!
Thu, Sep 15th 2011 3:05p Christopher Pepin I upgraded my original RIM BlackBerry Torch to a new Torch 2 from AT&T. While not revolutionary, the new Torch has a significantly faster processor (1.2Ghz vs. 624MHz), improved screen resolution (640x480 vs. 480 x 360) and OS 7 - which is really just a maintenance release (e.g. 6.1). If you're an existing Torch user, you'll definitely want to upgrade but there isn't anything here to convince an iPhone or Android user to jump ship. Amazon Kindle impressions - thumbs up!

BlackBery PlayBook tablet - initial impressions

Out of the box, I was able to use the PlayBook right away. No need to connect to a PC/Mac in order to activate like an Apple iPad

IBM Connections on mobile devices
Thu, Apr 28th 2011 1:02p Christopher Pepin Earlier this month, IBM announced the availability of IBM Connections 3.0.1 social software for the enterprise. The 3.0 release at the end of last year brought an improved mobile web interface. The mobile web interface has been expanded in 3.0.1 to include support for RIM BlackBerry 6.0 and Google Android. Windows Phone 7 Updates from AT&T

AT&T Microcell Update - Windows Phone 7

Weekend in Las Vegas

IE9 represents a marked improvement from IE8. If you're running IE, and let's face it, most enterprises run IE, you'll want to get IE9. However, you'll need to be running Vista or Windows 7 since IE9 doesn't run on XP. I've been running Windows 7 since the first beta and strongly recommend it.

GPS Drive turn-by-turn directions for iPhone - thumbs up!

Virtually all other smartphone platforms offer this capability. Due to the cost, I've been resisting purchasing GPS for the iPhone (I'm cheap) but GPS Drive at $1 for the first month and then $3 a month or $25 a year seemed too good to pass up. Expanding Directv DVR storage

However, the 500GB hard drive was filling up fast and affecting the performance of the service (e.g. slow to change channels). Based on advice on the web, I upgraded to a larger hard drive.

Creating Apple iPad demos
