Domino Integration with Superoffice CRM and InfoBridge
Mon, Mar 28th 2011 7:12a   Daniel Lynch
We are working with our new colleagues in Northern Europe to integrate Domino/Notes with a tool called Super Office CRM (for email sync with the CRM product) and InfoBridge for calendar sync to/from Domino to SuperOffice CRM. This is in the context of a migration to Domino from Groupwise, where SuperOffice CRM is synching mail presently to Groupwise and the problematic (and no longer supported) Nokia Intellisync product is synching calendar to GW. Superoffice CRM has a substantial footprint in E [read] Keywords: domino notes community email facebook integration office twitter

MDM and Proxy Choices With or Without Traveler
Fri, Mar 4th 2011 6:08a   Daniel Lynch
Curious to know if anyone has any substantial experience and feedback on 3rd party mobile device management (MDM) tools/vendors to extend the capabilities in Traveler, or completely apart from Traveler to manage the devices that Traveler supports. We’ve been talking to a number of vendors in this space in the past few weeks, and it is a rapidly developing situation with many understandably less mature offerings out there, wondering if any have risen to the top during actual use and deploym [read] Keywords: traveler community facebook mobile twitter websphere

Seeking Bi-Lingual Developer
Thu, Jan 27th 2011 5:15a   Daniel Lynch
We are in the process of integrating a company in Latin America to our business, and looking for a fluent, bi-lingual (Spanish and English) Notes/Domino developer to help us understand, and plan for, the integration of a number of existing ND apps for that business. Please contact me at dlynch@sherwin.com including resume and experience, or leave a comment here with contact information. [read] Keywords: domino notes facebook integration twitter

BES Domino Licensing Model Out of Date and Far Too Expensive
Mon, Dec 20th 2010 1:14p   Daniel Lynch
The PVU licensing model for the domino license for BES servers really needs to be revisited by IBM. Because of the fact that almost all new windows servers now come with at least 8 cores, to purchase the Domino license underlying the BES, we were looking at in excess of $20,000 USD’s to buy the IBM license for one BES! The BES license from RIM is a few grand tops. That very high cost is for a domino server that syncs RIM state databases; it doesn’t provide user facing services per se [read] Keywords: domino ibm applications bes enterprise facebook rim server twitter

News of Email’s Death is Greatly Exaggerated
Wed, Dec 15th 2010 9:12a   Daniel Lynch
The provocative post Stuart linked here from an armchair IT observer is as dubious as the merde spewing from the Opinion hawkers at Gartner. One “minor” logic flaw in their offal: they are ignorant of the actual trends and numbers. Every statistic we keep about the volume and importance of email as THE business critical communication tool, (and we keep many) year after year for the past 10 years, indicate that the volume of legitimate email, AFTER spam scrubbing, continues to increas [read] Keywords: administration domino ibm inotes notes notes client sametime traveler application bes blackberry email facebook microsoft rim security server twitter virus

TSA War on Cancer Survivors/Jihadists
Tue, Nov 23rd 2010 7:17a   Daniel Lynch
I suppose it’s about time the TSA started taking people suffering the life changing effects of breast cancer and bladder cancer to task, as I’m certain these dangerous zealots are just waiting to destroy the western world. Evil doers like them and a 71 year old man in a wheel chair and the 9-year old strip searched in front of dozens recently are undoubtedly fundamentalist extremists waiting to blow the rest of us out of the sky. Gosh I feel more safe. If the federal government does [read] Keywords: facebook twitter

Corporate-Provided Devices with Traveler?
Thu, Nov 18th 2010 8:15a   Daniel Lynch
The dynamic whereby the newer wireless consumer devices such as the iPad, Driods etc are driving us, like many, to get our arms around exploring providing these as corporate-owned devices along with Traveler. Curious to know if anyone is involved in doing that, and if so, if you might share any lessons learned, gotchas or other advice about working with companies that are typically involved in consumer needs, in a corporate context. The extension of device management, policy controls and tighter [read] Keywords: traveler development facebook integration linux twitter wireless

Exchanging Exchange for Domino
Fri, Nov 12th 2010 2:14p   Daniel Lynch
Our company continues to pursue global growth opportunities to meet our substantial growth goals for our 150th anniversary in a few years, in part by acquisition. As we do that, we continue to march down the road to globally consolidate and simplify our messaging services onto Domino, Sametime and BES, and are often required to replace many M$ Exchange environments. In 2010 we will have replaced Exchange in 3 different businesses located in Europe and Asia, and in looking ahead at 2011, we’ [read] Keywords: domino lotus notes sametime bes exchange exchange facebook integration twitter virus

Where have all the admins gone?
Wed, Nov 10th 2010 8:13a   Daniel Lynch
It was really nice to see Marie’s post pop up on PL in the past day, on admin issues close to the hearts of those of us who are not ND developers, but there seems to have been a decline in admin-centric issues and posts in PL and elsewhere (developer works) generally in the past few months. I get that these forums and communities are predominantly the venue for many great independent and smb development and consulting shops, and confess envy for all the detailed posts, conversations and su [read] Keywords: admin domino consulting development facebook twitter

This is the first in a series of posts intended to share IT-related experience and general knowledge gained while working together with legal professionals to meet obligations under the US Federal Rules for Civil Procedure (FRCP) related to messaging services.  The hope is to share information and to collaborate with others in similar situations, in order to build the knowledge base for IT professionals, vendors and others who may have increasingly relevant and intertwined interests in thi [read] Keywords: collaboration domino lotus notes email facebook outlook security server twitter

Research Myths and Gartner Analyst Opinions (Not Facts!)
Tue, Aug 10th 2010 11:27a   Daniel Lynch
divThe ether world of IT quot;researchquot; groups like Gartner, Radicati and others like them, is something that many in the IT community place too much stock in, as reliable, accurate, true quot;researchquot; when in fact these groups are in the business of forming opinions that in the end have nothing to do with quantifiable, and reproducible research methodology.  Opinions are like, well, you know.  These groups take advantage of the milieu in our business where people are overwhelmed and [read] Keywords: domino notes archiving bleedyellow bleedyellow.com community exchange exchange outlook
