a jQuery plug in for Code Syntax highlighting.
Now we've had LotusScript syntax highlighting
for a while with Julian Robichaux's great LS2HTML
code, but that's written in LotusScript and this is jQuery and MIGHT have
better potential to integrate with XPages or Wiki's. (Have you wiki'd
today?)
LotusScript is NOT on the list yet,
but I emailed the person and he's willing to add it for us I think. I

Watch out for the Wiki Gotchas

careful. I talked to a couple who were having problems.
If the code you're posting has a $ in
it then you need to escape it by putting a \ in front if it:

It was a very Lotus Christmas

wife, gave me a much needed new laptop bag. My old one was just too small
for me. It could carry the laptop but not much else. As much as I
wanted a bigger bag, I hated to give my current one up because she had

Designer has been Freed!
Tue, Oct 6th 2009 6:57a David Leedy Like a person wrongly accused of a crime,
Designer 8.5.1 has been freed by IBM. The one armed man has been
found and Designer is now free from it's 4 foot by 8 foot cell that resembles
a cubicle.
The roots of Notes was not only Rapid
Application Development, but also that ANYONE could create an application
if they had the desire. I'm excited to see this return to the "way
it was"!

Life happens

Lotus Knows Marketing through Collaboration

on the Blogger Briefing call regarding the upcoming "Lotus Knows"

Lotus Knows.... Marketing!

today,Lotus announced a new marketing program called Lotus Knows....
This program will run for 18-24 months and will be located in places like
taxi cab roofs and airports.
Another aspect of this campaign is that

networking and will allow us to help modify the message with our own experiences.

XPages in Pictures - 9 - Show Single Category
Wed, Jul 29th 2009 7:57a David Leedy The next feature to add to the application
is a way to display all contacts from the current company page. The
key difference here is that you want to filter the contacts to only show
the contacts for the particular company that you’re currently viewing.
There are some new ways to do this in Xpages, like a repeat control,
but here I’m going to use a view control again. This will work just like
the Notes client when a view is embedded on a form set to show single category.

The Tension in the YellowBubble

I'm going to hold off on putting it on iTunes for now at least. I'm

Google Migration White paper translated
Tue, Jul 14th 2009 7:03p David Leedy Today Ed Brill posted a story on the latest
attempt by a large corporation to migrate customers from Lotus Notes to
another platform. The contender this week is Google.
In the story Ed linked to a white paper
that Google created discussion a migration. I know I'm not the brightest
bulb on the marquee by any stretch of the imagination, but I just couldn't
understand it. I literally had trouble trying to determine what the
white paper was saying.

Recently I was working on a test XPage
application and wanted to have a page that would let the users fill out
some fields and then it would create a document in the "backend"
using server side Javascript and send the document to a team HelpDesk e-mail
account. I would not be saving this document in the application.

Lotusphere - An Apple a Day

I found it really interesting that in every session except one, the
speakers were using an Apple computer. I think they were all independent
consultants.
The one session that was not running
on an Apple? Maureen Leland and her partner Maire Kehoe (Pronounced
"Mory" I think). They had ThinkPads. They are the
developers of the Designer client. Too bad they're not on Apple -

XPages in 8.5.1 Client!!!!
Sun, Jan 18th 2009 6:52p David Leedy I was just in the XPages jumpstart with
Maureen Leland and Maire Hehoe and someone asked the question when XPages
would be in the Notes Client and she said that she JUST got confirmation
that it would go in with 8.5.1. She said that we'd finally be able
to develop once for both the web and notes client!!!
I'm beyond excited about XPages in general
and the fact that the client will come next. But of course she didn't
say when.....

Good's JSON and AJAX jumpstart.
I've seen Scott speak many times at the Advisor Conferences. One
of the great things about him is that he's not only does he just exude
energy, but you can tell that he's really passionate about the subject.
The session was really all about JSON
and a data store and using it in conjunction with AJAX principals to make
your website "POP". The core of JSON I think is using Javascript

BALD and Beyond

was very happy to meet such a great group of people there! Too many
names to mention, I don't want to risk missing anyone. But
I wanted to thank everybody for being so nice!
Probably the best lesson learned is
that the networking comes first and sessions come second.
Today comes the start of the Sessions.
For me the focus is xPages, xPages and then maybe some xPages!

tech ways of finding people... and like a lot of people I've loaded
Brightkite onto my iPhone and will try and use that.
I'm taking my Macbook with and will
try and do some live or semi-live blogging. Since this is my first
trip I'm not too sure how laptop friendly the famous Lotusphere bags are
so I'll probably have my own that my wife "embellished". Somehow

Notes 8.5 on the Mac!

8.5 as soon as I could. The first thing that I grabbed was the 8.5
client for the Apple Mac! Finally a gold native version for the Mac!!!
I tried installing it over top of one
of the 8.5 betas and it did not seem to like that. I'd click on the
icon and see a flash - but then nothing. Maybe I need to reboot or
first uninstall it. No time before to mess before I'm off to work..
I then installed it on a Mac that never

to Lotusphere. I've been to other events like the Advisor and View
Conferences over the years, but I've never made it to Lotusphere.
One of the reasons for this is that
my family is a repeat Disney group. I've got a 5 year old boy and
8 year old girl and was never a big fan of taking them to the beach in
diapers, so we started going to Disney. Now we're vacation club members

Paying Homage to the Lotus Notes User Interface

the main interface for the iPhone, possibly the most popular smart phone
of all time, looks very similar to the Notes Workspace. I think you
can have 8 pages of applications. The icons for the applications
are movable within the page and to other pages - just like the Notes Workspace.
Sure it would be nice if in the Notes client you could have a full
graphic for the database "box". But the concept between

Christmas Games
Sat, Dec 20th 2008 5:51p David Leedy I'm not sure where we came up with it,
but last year the family started playing a came where we would look for
Christmas Trees on cars and get points for them. We'd try to see
who got the most trees.
The rules are relatively simple. The

Be Careful with Blacklist Sites for Spam protection

happened, but quite frankly it's more an admin topic then development so
I quickly got distracted with something and forgot all about it. Whoops!
A couple of weeks ago we had a problem
with receiving e-mail from the Internet. Very quickly the problem
became we couldn't receive ANY e-mail from the outside. Of course
we didn't think it's a Notes problem at first and had the networking guys

Computed for Display? Not Always...
Tue, Dec 2nd 2008 8:51p David Leedy I don't know if it has always been like
this or if something changed in the Notes Client, I'm using 8.0.2, but
I had a pretty frustrating couple of hours working with Computed for Display
(CFD) fields of all things.
I was pretty much minding my own business
and adding some CFD's to do some calculations like difference and percent
difference, and when I would look at the form with data in it, my expected
results did NOT appear. Ok, these were in a table and the cells must

Openlog and Worst Practice?

The error trapping database that you can find on OpenNTF.org.
I've been using it for YEARS... Trapping errors and recoding
log messages from agents. Julian did a fantastic job with this application.

One of the things that has bothered
me about OpenLog is that it never sent me e-mail alerts. I always
figured it was something simple but never really found the time to check
it. Until Monday that is.

YellowDay Tip - Rulers and Tables
Mon, Aug 11th 2008 7:54a David Leedy Like many people I'll often use tables
on my Notes forms to control the look and feel. Typically, I'll spend
a fair amount of time in the tables property box getting it "just
right". I'll always set some padding on the row and column spacing,
though I don't know if there's an "optimum" setting for this.
But padding's important to show separation and to let your fields
and labels "stand out" a little bit.

Improve coding for Validation

(opps I mean application!) tonight. I want to create a database that
will replace our paper forms for Expense reporting. This application will

New Teamstudio Tools

24 of it's tools. I don't have the complete set of tools but I do
have the big 4 - Analyzer, CIAO, Delta and Configurator.
In addition to being Notes 8 compatible
there's a couple of really interesting features that I'm going to be playing
