The link to the Fix list for IBM Connections 4.0 CR3 is somehow broken, but CR’s are normally not released just for fun – and do not forget to [...] [read] Keywords: connections
Quality of document conversion in IBM Sametime 8.5.x Meetings
Tue, Dec 4th 2012 11:11a Dennis Ruddigkeit There are two ways to access IBM Sametime Meetings – with a browser or the rich client. Using the browser client has some limitations, but most of them are not that important.
Have a look at “Meeting features in Connect versus web clients” for more details.

Privacy in IBM Connections Metrics
Fri, Nov 30th 2012 9:11a Dennis Ruddigkeit Metrics in IBM Connections 4 are a bit like using a sledge-hammer to crack a nut but they can be really useful and extremely powerful.
But one man’s joy is the other man’s sorrow: At least in Germany (and I am sure in other countries as well) workers’ councils do not like individual-related statistics at all.
They are always [...] [read] Keywords: connections
Updating your community metrics never completes
Thu, Nov 29th 2012 10:10a Dennis Ruddigkeit When using the Metrics application in IBM Connections 4.0 you might have the issue that updating Community metrics never completes. Instead of reaching 100% the progress drops to 0% just in between.
The reason for that might be the “ServerIOTimeout” value of the appropriate web server plugin configuration file.
The file “plugin-cfg.xml” can be found in

Tue, Oct 16th 2012 6:10a Dennis Ruddigkeit There are three Open Mic Webcasts about IBM Connections 4 Mobile on October, 23th 2012. Don’t miss it!
Since they are taking place simultaneously, I am not sure which one to attend – maybe I will follow the first invitation, because ostensibly it’s about the same topics and includes the same information, but there must be a [...] [read] Keywords: connections
IBM Connections: Blog overview remains blank
Wed, Aug 22nd 2012 10:15a Dennis Ruddigkeit A few days ago I stumbled upon a problem in IBM Connections where it was not possible to open the overview (list of all recent blogs entries) of a particular blog. Instead of showing all recent entries the page remained grey without showing anything.
I remembered a post on Paul Mooney’s blog describing a similar issue [...] [read] Keywords: connections
Quickr AdminP integration has been fixed
Tue, Jul 31st 2012 10:15a Dennis Ruddigkeit When using the AdminP to work on a Quickr server to maintain user renames and deletions the server may become unstable, because it starts as many QPTOOL commands as there are renames or deletions in the queue. This causes high amount of memory usage and finally makes the server slow, slower and crashing, if there [...] [read] Keywords: adminp

Lotus Notes: synchronize contacts and deletion stubs
Mon, Jul 23rd 2012 10:18a Dennis Ruddigkeit One of the improvements of Lotus Notes 8 was the feature to synchronize contacts between local address book and mail file using the native replication mechanism instead of using the crappy Lotus Notes agent.

Caution when enabling PIRC by default
Thu, Jul 19th 2012 10:09a Dennis Ruddigkeit Beginning with Domino 8.5.3, IBM introduced the long-awaited PIRC (Purge Interval Replication Control) feature to prevent old or deleted documents to be replicated back.

Interoperability of Sametime – a never-ending story?
Fri, Sep 16th 2011 11:12a Dennis Ruddigkeit More than a year ago, IBM started to bother Sametime administrators and users with audio and video interoperability between Sametime 8.5.x clients and earlier versions. Blackberry Playbook + WPA2 = fail
Thu, Aug 4th 2011 9:11a Dennis Ruddigkeit It seems that RIM’s Blackberry Playbook has problems using WPA2 encryption for WiFi in conjunction with some WLAN routers. In some cases the Playbook “only” disconnects from WiFi after a few minutes, but in other cases it makes the WLAN router stop working at all, so that a restart of the router is required.

Sametime Gateway: Yahoo! awareness extended

Sametime Gateway: ICQ awareness *updated*
Sat, Jul 16th 2011 6:12a Dennis Ruddigkeit Two weeks ago I already assumed that the outage of ICQ awareness through the Sametime Gateway connection has to do with the disposal of ICQ to DST one year ago.
Unfortunately, I was right – since June 10, 2011 ICQ does no longer belong to the AOL network and therefore it is no longer reachable through AOL [...] [read] Keywords: sametime

Fri, Jul 1st 2011 10:16a Dennis Ruddigkeit Since several weeks the connection to the ICQ network (via AOL clearinghouse) through Lotus IBM Sametime Gateway seems not to be working anymore.

Lotus Quickr: Language of policy warnings
