Happy 25th Birthday!
Devin Olson

Bells Brewery: 25 years of hoppy goodness

Bell's Brewery here in Michigan, is celebrating their 25th birthday today.

Twenty five years is a lot of great beer.

Some of you might recall how excited I was last January at Lotusphere when I discovered four things:

  1. Shula's Bar stocked Bell's Christmas Ale
  2. The Dolphin Lobby Bar stocked Bell's Oberon Ale
  3. Giving away GOOD AMERICAN BEER while walking around the Dolphin is tiring (those cases were heavy).
  4. "Free as in Beer" isn't cheap. But sometimes it is worth it.

Spanky: "I heard you have Bell's Oberon Beer."

Bartender: "Yes we do. How many would you like?"

    Spanky: "All of them."

Bartender (without batting an eye): "Cash, or Charge?"

You can probably already guess where I'll be tonight.

Happy Birthday Bell's!

Thanks Bruce!

Bruce Elgort has stepped down as chairman of OpenNTF I have known Bruce for many years. I could go on about how I met him and how we became close, but that not something I'm willing to share. He is a good and kindly man, he is a caring an loving individual, and he is a friend. Bruce has worked his ass off over the years as a major contributor to our little yellow community. He has been a huge disruptive change agent and has helped shaped the way I look at the world. For all you ha [read] Keywords: agent community openntf

Disk Inventory X
Mon, Apr 29th 2013 5:30p   Devin Olson
Ok, here is a real quick review I have been using Disk Inventory X for about 6 months now, and I couldn't imagine not having it in my tool kit. If you are a Mac user and do anything more complicated or technical than surf facebook, then you should go get this tool. I don't always recommend a product, but when I do you should pay attention Hope this helps! -Devin [read] Keywords: facebook mac

Returning to the Real World
Sat, Feb 2nd 2013 12:00p   Devin Olson
I've been pretty heads down over the last few months leading up to Lotusphere IBM Connect 2013. Nothing to apologize for, I've just been focused on other things. I will leave it to others to provide detailed post-conference analysis. Let me just say that it was, through no fault of IBM, one of the worst weeks of my life. It was also one of the better weeks of my life. We lost a friend, but also made some new ones. I drew much closer to many existing friends as well. Gents (and Ladies), I w [read] Keywords: ibm lotusphere

Brewer's Breakfast
Tue, Nov 6th 2012 11:00a   Devin Olson
Many home-brewers, believing that spent grains are worthless, will throw them out when finished brewing. This belief is far from the truth. Image Credit: Tyler Howarth 2009 Spent grain is an excellent source of nutrition. They are packed with proteins, vitamins, fiber, and flavor. When mashing and lautering, the grains are steeped in water heated to somewhere between 150 and 170 degrees. This process draws the sugars, colors, and flavors from the grains in [read] Keywords: google wiki

Expanding a Names List
Fri, Oct 19th 2012 11:40a   Devin Olson
Here is an old helper function I've had laying about in my toolkit for a while. It gets the unique members of a list of names or groups. Anyway, here is the code: '/** ' * function expandNamesList ' * @author: Devin S. Olson ' * @licence: WTFPL Version 2 ' **/ %REM Function expandNamesList Gets the unique members for a list of names and groups. Conditionally recurses to get all individual members of all sub-groups.
