I had to get this out before Lotusphere so you could take a look at it yourself b/c ok - I admit it..I'm a convert. I have to tell you..the things that are coming out of Lotus Development these days never cease to amaze me, and Lotus has gone and done it again! A bit late in blogging about this, but I recently attended and presented at AdminCamp 2009 ( http://www.admincamp.de/ ). This is a top-notch conference put on by a dedicated group of Notes & Domino practioners. I had lots of great discussions with customers and partners, and the Notes/Domino enthusiasm was contagious! DAOS Updates for Domino 8.5.1
Tue, Sep 22nd 2009 11:24a   Andrea Waugh-Metzger
Now that we know Domino 8.5.1 is just around the corner (thanks, Ed Brill!), it's time to wet your whistles a bit on what you're going to see! Let's talk about something I know you'll really like .... DAOS!! Just when we thought those Lotus developers couldn't get any better, they've gone and outdone themselves! Here's what's coming for DAOS in 8.5.1. As we talk about what's new, we need to make sure we understand what you *already* get as a part of DAOS in Domino 8.5. There's this great entitlement that came with your ND 8 licenses that I think just hasn't gotten enough press. This new entitlement is for Tivoli Directory Integrator, or TDI. You see, Notes/Domino R8 came with an entitlement to use Tivoli Directory Integrator - it's completely free for you to use - as long as Domino is one of the systems you use in your assembly lines. Making Notes ROCK on Citrix
Thu, Feb 12th 2009 10:57a   Andrea Waugh-Metzger
I've noticed an interesting trend over the last couple of months. More and more of my customers are talking about Citrix. I think it's the "cost-cutting" mode that we're all in these days, and while I don't know a lot about Citrix, I know it has been one way that customers are cutting back on desktop hardware, etc. So, I've been getting more and more questions about Notes on Citrix and how to make it perform for the Notes 8.x client. Do You Use Domino Policies?

So I have a question for you. I believe it was back in Notes/Domino R6 that we introduced policies. But, I know most of my clients didn't really "leverage" them until the R7 timeframe - if at all. Database size reduction in 8.0.1

Domino 8.0.1 plans to deliver some great new capabilities to help reduce your database sizes. We'll be introducing new database compression technology in 8.0.1 that could provide a huge reduction in database sizes - email and applications. This extends the template or design note compression which was added in 8.0 to all non-summary data in a Notes application file. Our initial lab performance tests using live mail files are showing an average savings of approximately 40% in storage space! How internet mail threads work in Domino 8
Tue, Sep 11th 2007 4:15p   Rob Ingram

For Domino 8, we did some limited testing wit [read] Keywords: domino , notes , email , google , microsoft , outlook , server

FAQ on DB2 and Domino 8
Thu, Jun 28th 2007 8:17a   Rob Ingram
We've been hearing an increasing number of questions on Domino DB2 integration. Domino 8 will include general availability of the DB2 feature. Here are some common questions and answers. These applications may have accumulated so many old views and have grown so large over time, that they can spend much of their time indexing. With this type of application, D [read] Keywords: designer , domino , ibm , lotusscript , notes , notes client , aix , application , applications , database , db2 , email , enterprise , integration , linux , microsoft , red hat , server , sql

Thu, May 3rd 2007 6:18a   Rob Ingram
In Notes/Domino 7.0.2 we were unable to make changes to product help regarding the blog template. There is information in the 7.0.2 release notes if you search web log. I'd also continue to recommend S [read] Keywords: domino , notes , notes client , template
