Some Solutions When ID Vault Won't Upload The Notes ID File

Don Mottolo

Ran into this at a customer's site:  after enabling the Domino ID Vault most users' Notes IDs uploaded into the vault, but several users' IDs did not.  In the server log security section showed errors like this:

03/13/2015 14:18:08 ID failed to upload to vault 'O=ID_Vault1'. 'John Doc/acme' (IP Address 192.168.01:53404) made request. Error: 03:11
03/13/2015 14:18:16 Unable to find ID for 'John Doe/acme' in vault 'O=ID_Vault1'. Error: 03:11

Googling on "Error: 03:11"  didn't return anything useful.  Turning on the debug parameters gave more output, but still nothing helpful.

SOLUTION 1:  Checking the Domino Directory, I found that many of the people with the problem had a Person doc  with the "Domain" field empty  (not sure how they managed to do that in the first place!),  and adding in the correct Domain allowed the ID files to upload correctly.

SOLUTION 2:  For some other users that did have the correct name in the Domain field,  just editing and saving their person doc  (without making any real changes) was enough to get their Notes IDs to upload to the vault.

As usual, hope this helps someone else that runs into the very helpful and descriptive "Error: 03:11"

Thanks again to Richard Moy (plus his wife & family), the sponsors, and all the other MWLUG members for putting on an excellent conference. Those of us that attended greatly appreciate it, and I highly recommend attending next year if you have the opportunity. It is always a pleasure to be around so many smart […]
