Salesforce & IBM Connections integration – keeping your organization connected
Mon, Feb 1st 2016 3:57p   Femke Goedhart
With so many solutions touting social capabilities out there and being used for different situations it can be daunting to decide on when to use what and why. Your organization might already have Salesforce, IBM Connections, Sharepoint and solutions like Jira that offer social capabilities but how do you get all these worlds together? The last thing you want after all is to have one department ‘being social’ in one platform and another somewhere else. That completely undermines the w

Webcast Dec 1st: Positioning IBM Connections & Document management
Fri, Nov 20th 2015 10:59a   Femke Goedhart
Quite often people ask me how they should position and integrate a Social Enterprise Network like IBM Connections in an existing landscape of applications and strategies for managing information and documents. Often they already have several tools, intranets, and applications and want to know what things to consider, how and when to migrate and how to get users to make the transition into using the new platform without getting confused. Or they might be totally new to the concept of working with

It has been a busy month all over but the last two weeks have been extremely busy. Both with a major project at a customer going live this weekend as well as with two conferences last week and this week. I had a great day on October 28th at the IBM Client center for SNoUG the Swiss Notes User Group and congratulate the SNoUG team on their effort of setting up a fantastic event. I really enjoyed it and found the sessions, connections I made and information I got from the sponsor booths extremely

After not having traveled much over the last few months it is promising to shape up to be quite a busy fall this year! 21st/22nd of September – London: In little over a week I will be attending ICON UK, the UK user group for IBM software users where I will be co-hosting a session with ICON UK organizer Tim Clark on the art of requirements gathering as well as doing a session on my own about file & document management in IBM Connections. ICONUK is a great conference with a fantastic li

Bringing your IBM Connections files to the user – desktop integration
Tue, Jul 28th 2015 7:18p   Femke Goedhart
As someone whit a special interest in both document management and social business anything that touches the both of them and improves the user experience of file management is of special interest to me. Today was a great day for me in that respect as I got to see/try out some really good new features that help user work with their files in IBM Connections. IBM Desktop & MS Office Connectors IBM Connections as a platform is often host to many files. Files can be stored in communities, perso

IBM Connections: Default follow on public files is it logical?
Thu, Jun 11th 2015 3:14a   Femke Goedhart
At one of my customers a user complained about the fact that every time he opened a publicly shared file it would automatically ‘follow’ that file. Of course he could ‘unfollow’ the file but found it irritating that it would follow it at all without him making that conscious decision. After testing and a little digging by our admins it turns out that indeed t

Re-Thinking mail – Attachment storage in the cloud
Wed, May 6th 2015 6:56p   Femke Goedhart
This week Microsoft is hosting its big Ignite conference in Chicago and based on comments from some people in my network I was alerted to an intriguing announcement about Microsoft releasing a new integration between outlook and OneDrive by the end of 2015 that would allow attachments to reside in OneDrive and shared and co-authored across recipients both internal as well as external without the need to actually ‘attach’ the actual file in the mail itself. “Why is this relevant

Announcement – Starting up a new venture
Fri, Apr 24th 2015 8:35a   Femke Goedhart
[dutch translation below] As of April 2015 I am starting up a new venture under the name of Ipsamet Consulting focusing on business analysis and information management. This won’t change my role within Silverside, where I will continue to work, but I will also be taking on this new and exciting challenge. I have always been passionate about information, knowledge and enterprise content management. A dynamic area where things are changing rapidly due to the rise of social enterprise network
