How to develop a Lotus Notes Client plug-in
Tue, Mar 9th 2010 8:26a   Joris
In my first blog I’d like to explain a little about building a plug-in for Eclipse and how to integrate it into a Lotus Notes Client. The first thing we’ll do is set up your Eclipse environment. I used the RCP edition of Eclipse Ganymede (3.4). I’m sure it’ll also work in other versions but I have not tested those. I’ve only tested on the Lotus Notes Client 8.5.1. We need to add the Notes JVM for Eclipse to use. The target platform also has to be configured as well as the lau [read] Keywords: ibm lotus notes notes client application eclipse facebook google java twitter xml

Godmode for windows 7
Wed, Jan 27th 2010 11:01a   Ken
The name might suggest grander possibilities, but Windows enthusiasts are delighted with the discovery of a hidden ‘God Mode’ in Windows 7. By creating a new folder in Windows 7 in a specific way, users get a place where they can customize everything, from the appearance of the mouse pointer to creating a new partition. This trick is also reported to work under Windows Vista, though there are posts that the 64-bit version of Vista does crash. For the 32-bit version, this God-mode sho [read] Keywords: bookmarklet facebook google twitter vista

Notes roaming users on Lotus Foundations
Fri, Oct 9th 2009 9:54a   Kevin
We are installing a Lotus Foundations Branch Office appliance at one of our customers. Lotus Foundations Branch Office is used in combination with a Lotus Domino Enterprise server. All configuration happens on the Enterprise server and is then replicated to the Foundations server. For example: users are registrated on the Enterprise server, with the Foundations server as their mailserver. Some of the users on the Foundations server had to be upgraded to roaming users (Notes roaming). It took me [read] Keywords: adminp domino foundations lotus notes roaming bookmarklet enterprise facebook google office php server twitter

Getting users for SVN from Domino LDAP
Thu, Sep 17th 2009 5:56a   Kevin
Setting up an Subversion server (http://subversion.tigris.org/) is fairly easy. On most Linux distributions, you can install it via the packet manager that comes equipped with it. At our company, we run Subversion on CentOS with Apache. For added security, we require users to authenticate if they want to access the repositories. You can add these users manually with htaccess files, but why do that if you already have all the users listed in the Domino directory? Having multiple user accounts for [read] Keywords: domino bookmarklet centos facebook google linux php security server twitter

Java agent to get an rss feed behind a proxy server
Thu, Sep 10th 2009 11:55a   Ken
I just finished developing the integration of this blog in our company website (under ‘Portfolio’ on the right). This site is running on domino. This is how I accomplished this: Create a java agent to read the rss feed. On the web page, use an XmlHttpRequest to call the agent and get the XML. Also in javascript: parse the XML to HTML and put in a div on the website. The code for step 2 and 3, you can see on our website: just download the javascript code (we use dojo as a framework) [read] Keywords: agent document domino javascript notes bookmarklet dojo facebook google integration java php properties security server twitter xml

using Quickr with Domino LDAP when hosting multiple directories
Fri, Sep 4th 2009 5:06a   Tom
As many of us know, you can define your Quickr user directory to use both Domino Directory and LDAP. When using the Domino Directory as your User Directory for Quickr, you are able to log onto your Quickr with all users of all the directories included in your Directory assistance setup. However, when you have enabled Quickr to use LDAP as User Directory, you are only able to log in with users from the Primary Domino Directory. You are able to select users from all directories, when you want to g [read] Keywords: domino lotus notes quickr bookmarklet facebook google php server twitter

Exporting .kyr certificate for Apache
Mon, Aug 31st 2009 8:13a   Kevin
A while ago I came across this not-so-common problem: We access our iNotes webmail through a reverse proxy. This reverse proxy is an Apache webserver. To add to this security, all http traffic is redirected to https for obvious reasons. This means that there has to be an SSL certificate on the reverse proxy for that website. But Lotus Domino stores its certificates in keyring files (.kyr extension), which cannot be read by Apache. Since we use self-signed certificates for our server, I couldn [read] Keywords: domino ibm inotes lotus bookmarklet facebook google linux password php security server twitter websphere

Some mail rules not executing in Notes 6.5.
Fri, Aug 28th 2009 2:48a   Sven
My day was hardly started when I got the question why mail rules weren’t moving the mails to their folders. I went over to this person and had a look at his mailfile. Turns out he had over 150 rules that all move mails into certain folders based on their subject. Some enabled mail rules were not executing, others did what they intended to do. After a little searching this is what I found on the IBM support site: The revised rule numbering functionality introduced in the Notes/Domino 6.5.4/6.0. Excel constants for lotusscript excel export
Wed, Aug 26th 2009 5:11a   Ken
Recently, I had to change the appearance of an excel export. I did not find a table containing the integer values of the excel contant names you get when you record a macro. So I called in the help of  Theo. The simplest way is to use the ‘immediate window’ in VB. Press CTRL-G to make it appear in your vb-window. You can then simply type: “print xlUnderlineStyleSingle” which will show you “2″. For your reference, I’ll attach the entire table. Use WebServices to access Calendar and Mail in Lotus Notes
Fri, Oct 24th 2008 4:13a   Ken
One of our client is running a java-app that has a planning-module. When a user logs in, their Lotus Notes information is accessed using LDAP. They needed Lotus Notes webservices that can: Check the availability of a user based on a given timeframe Create/modify an appointment Return a list of all calendar entries within a given timeframe I’ll explain how we accomplished this…  To store the webservices, we created a new database called CalendarServices.nsf.
