If I had to sum up Lotusphere 2011 in three words it would be: “To the cloud!” Wait… someone else might be using that phrase. I was really surprised at how much Lotus is pushing LotusLive, which is a fantastic tool. Many sessions and most of the OGS seemed to center around this product. I really think LotusLive has a home in our environment, its just a matter of determining how it best fits. Oddly enough, if LotusLive was integrated into the Notes client, I think it would be a [read] Keywords: lotus lotusphere notes notes client symphony blackberry iphone

Lotusphere Expectations
Sat, Jan 22nd 2011 7:43a   Kevin Hansen
I have none. For the first time ever, I really have no expectations about what to expect at Lotusphere this year. By this time each year, I normally have a sense of things I want to be sure to get out of the event and a LONG list of things I hope to see (meaning: announcements, new releases, etc.). But this year, I really don’t know what to expect. I think its in part due to general changes in my role over the last year, but also due to where our focus has been throughout the year. Things around my blog have been quiet in the last year – and I’m close to being at a point where I can talk more specifically about why, but suffice it to say: I’ve embarked on an exciting new venture. Since I try to keep this blog about as much “tech” and Lotus Notes as possible, I can also tell you that one of the most interesting things about what I’m doing now is that its given me the chance to use Notes in some new ways. More on that later… So R [read] Keywords: lotus lotusphere notes

ALMOST back to a Mac
Sun, Nov 21st 2010 5:01p   Kevin Hansen
In the last year, my role has shifted quite a bit (more on that later) to one where having access to tools that allow me to easily and quickly put together great looking documents, presentations and spreadsheets is a huge asset. I’ve found Windows7 to be surprisingly helpful but the Microsoft counterparts to Apple’s iWork suite still fall a bit short. This is even more true now that MS Office 2011 for the Mac is out – which looks/acts fantastic! So I made the decision to go bac [read] Keywords: lotus lotusnotes notes sametime apple desktop google integration iphone java mac microsoft office widget

Ten months ago I ordered a Dell laptop to replace my MacBook Pro at the office. I’ll be honest, at the time I thought I would be so convinced that OSX was a better O/S that 6 months into the decision, I’d want my Mac back. That’s not the case at all. Sure, I still run Mac’s at home and I’m not interested in changing that, but as a word device, my 64-bit Windows 7 environment makes everything much easier. Network drives? No problem.
