Use WebDAV as Dropbox like solution for corporate use

D-Business WebDAV can be used as an on-premises alternative for Dropbox for corporate usage. Companies can create a Dropbox alike solution on corporate infrastructure without using could services.

Clients need to setup a Domino server R853, for example in the DMZ. The Domino server OS is not relevant. For large implementations we advice Domino 64 bits.

For each user a private Notes database will be created (db design can be blank). Users will not access this Notes database via the Notes client.

The files and folders in this Notes database can be mapped as a shared drive to the users computer. For Windows the best program to create this shared drive to the WebDAV server is Netdrive.net. Mac and Linux systems support WebDAV nativity very well. Users will be able to manage the files and folders in their personal WebDAV drive, add-delete-rename files, add-delete-rename folders and so on.

The complete content of the users WebDAV drive and be synced for off line usage to mobile devices by using WebDAV clients (for example Goodreader, FolderSync). Users will be able to manage the files and folders on their mobile device, add-delete-rename files, add-delete-rename folders and so on and sync these changes back to the users personal WebDAV drive and vice versa.

Development of a new version of Lialis WebDAV takes months, depending on the new features we are adding. Testing takes several weeks as well (two test consultants full time). We have to test each function for WebDAV running on Domino, Tomcat and WebSphere for Quickr, Lotus Notes and IBM Connections. This must be done for several apps like Goodreader, Bitkinex, Notability and so on. We are talking about a few thousand test steps. We do this to ensure the software runs flawless and clients don't [read] Keywords: connections domino ibm lotus notes quickr applications blogger development google office server websphere

The White House is spitting blood. They were caught with their pants down — in the spotlight of the world. And now their secrets are out, officials in the EU, and other countries like China, are outraged. This is what happens, when sensitive information is leaked. Because once Pandora’s box has been opened… you c [read] Keywords: connections ibm lotus policies quickr applications blogger google mobile

How we have build Lialis WebDAV Cloud
Thu, Jul 18th 2013 4:15p   Kim van den Berg
Introduction A few years ago we started building WebDAV on Domino server because Connections was small and Quickr was bigger. WebDAV is coded in Java thanks to Domino, so its relatively easy to get the Java program to run on a Java server like Tomcat. We needed to replace the Domino features like logging and settings (which used Notes databases) with XML files because a Tomcat server does not understand a Notes database. I could never deliver a WebDAV cloud SaaS when WebDAV runs on Domino [read] Keywords: connections domino ibm lotus notes quickr applications blogger community database email google java linux mobile security server xml
