Great resource for chaos-enabled persona's
Lars Berntrop-Bos

Get ready to virtualize your receipt shoeboxes

I just stumbled across a great tool for the organizational challenged and chaos enabled (i.e. a large part of geekdom): http://www.shoeboxed.com/
They process receipts (images for free, paper ones for a fee) and return the results.  I just know I am going to love this!

Blast from the past: LMBCS tables for Windows, OS/2, Unix and Macintosh
Thu, Jul 10th 2014 6:12a   Lars Berntrop-Bos
Because this info is hard to find, posted here for posterity. LMBCS code table for Windows , OS/2 and Unix The following tables lists the available LMBCS codes for Notes, their compose or key sequences (if any), and the characters they produce. The first table lists the characters you can create in Windows, OS/2, and UNIX; the second table lists the characters you can create on a Macintosh. (Note: The column 'Character' is not filled in some cases because of translation issues.) LM [read] Keywords: notes apple macintosh

Undocumented compose sequence for at-sign (@) found
Wed, Jul 9th 2014 9:09a   Lars Berntrop-Bos
The Notes Browser plugin is a wondrous product. But try inserting an at-sign(@) using an AZERTY keyboard... The solution is to use an undocumented compose sequence: -- means press ALT and hold, press F1 and release, release Alt. then type an a and an a. Hey presto, an @ sign appears!! Getting Windows 7 x64 to use Cooler Master CM Storm Quickfire Pro Ultimate Keyboard
Mon, Oct 7th 2013 7:09a   Lars Berntrop-Bos
Getting Windows 7 x64 to use Cooler Master CM Storm Quickfire Pro Ultimate Keyboard Preface: Recently purchased a Cooler Master CM Storm Quickfire Pro Ultimate mechanical keyboard. I hit a few snags: the high quality braided USB cable was a dud, and the touted Plug and Play let me down. It refused to work on my Windows 7 x64. Contacting support or scouring the internet did not not help. I did stumble upon dpjaf4t, who had made Windows 7 work with a Logitech G510. Since the same symptoms were [read] Keywords: admin policies microsoft

Tuning 8.x.x Standard client (Eclipse)
Wed, Mar 27th 2013 6:08a   Lars Berntrop-Bos
Here's how to tune your Eclipse based 8.x.x client, also known as the standard client. Use the latest version available to you usually gives you the most speed, especially you want to use version 8.5.1 as it contains a lot of optimizations. And the Domino Designer upgrades to Java and LotusScript editing are really, really, really nice. For a great speed boost starting up the client and running Designer, use a trick Andrew Pollack described, and Jerome Carter substantiat [read] Keywords: domino lotusscript notes application applications archive eclipse java properties

All is not well with Interim Fix 1 for IBM Lotus Notes Client 8.5.3 Fix Pack 1 (853FP1IF1)

All is not well with Interim Fix 1 for IBM Lotus Notes Client 8.5.3 Fix Pack 1 (853FP1IF1) Tried updating my 8.5.3 Designer FP1 install with 853FP1IF1. After succesfull application, the client starts up but hangs after a couple of seconds in. Only quits with nsd- kill. Removal of Ytria ScanEZ or Panagena MarvelClient did not improve the situation, only uninstall of the 853FP1IF1. Luckily everything works after that. Logged it with IBM as a Service Request. => PMR 79115,211,788 Good to [read] Keywords: ibm lotus notes notes client nsd application

Want Domino / Notes Speed? Update the ODS on ALL Notes databases, templates and mail.box files
Tue, Apr 10th 2012 8:28a   Lars Berntrop-Bos
I just enjoyed a wonderful speed up of development work on our Domino 8.5 environment, which runs on IBM i. It was done by upgrading the ODS on ALL databases, templates and mail.box files to the current ODS, 51. Here's how. A short history I've been hounding our sysadmins about lagging ODS versions for over a year, which was given renewed vigor when I got to see LS 2012 BP110 'A Performance Boost for your IBM Lotus Notes Client', by Francie Tanner & Florian Vogler of pa [read] Keywords: domino ibm lotus lotusphere notes notes client ntf ods application development server

Do not delete Perspectives in Domino Designer
Wed, Apr 4th 2012 6:50a   Lars Berntrop-Bos
a word of warning. I found a list of perspectives in the preferences (used the search box, its in General:Perspectives.) in which you can also set the default perspective. Great! I thought. And noticed al these duplicate perspectives with no icon. To wit: multiple instances of Calendar, Mail and ToDo. Then I made the mistake of cleaning them up. And killed my Notes client (hangs in startup sequence) DO NOT DO THIS. I am now reinstalling from scratch... [read] Keywords: domino notes notes client

Serious LotusScript List bug
Wed, Feb 29th 2012 2:26a   Lars Berntrop-Bos
To serious LotusScript programmers, the List construct in combination with custom classes is a daily staple. To find bugs in that is disconcerting... this piece of code, running on Notes 8.5.3, mysteriously adds a previously non-existing listitem attributenlijst(veldSpec.tag) with value "": call maildoc.ReplaceItemValue(veldSpec.veldnaam, attributenlijst(veldSpec.tag)) veldSpec.veldnaam is a nonempty string, veldSpec.tag is a nonempty string, attributenlijst is a List As String befor [read] Keywords: lotusscript notes bug
