Over the weekend IBM released IBM Connections 126.96.36.199. I don't intend to cover all the new stuff here, but I figured I would highlight a few things.
First, the release adds new support for Internet Explorer 9 and Firefox 9. Second, there's now integration with IBM Sametime 8.5.2 for presence awareness. Just as before with Sametime 8.5.1, users can see who is online in Connections without installing any additional software on their desktops. This is very cool because it rapidly speeds adoption and eliminates barriers to collaboration. If you are looking for the instructions on how to do that, you can find it here.
Third, administrators who like to run their servers on the latest release of RedHat, they'll be happy to know that RedHat EL 6.1 is now supported as well.
There's also several new controls available to specify how to sort and filter forums (e.g. by answered status), who can respond to community forums (e.g. members-only or everyone), and the ability to specify the default view for forums. I don't intend to cover all the new stuff here, but you can find the fix list for this release is here.

Download the New IBM Connections 5.0 Desktop Plugins
Fri, Jun 20th 2014 11:11a Luis Benitez The new IBM Connections Desktop plug-ins for Microsoft Windows have just been released to our app catalog.
There's a couple of things that I would like to call out here. First, IBM Connections 5.0 will be available for download next week. This is the first time that we have released the desktop plugins before the actual new server code is available. This is because the new desktop plugin also adds new features even if you are not using 5.0.
Second, this is yet another simultaneous release [read] Keywords: connections

Tue, Jun 17th 2014 6:11a Luis Benitez I'm in Prague today enjoying the Social Connections VI event meeting and talking and learning from the IBM Connections User Group.
The timing couldn't have been better for this event. That's because today we are announcing IBM Connections 5.0 and that's just a week after IBM Connections came out as a leader in the latest Forrester Wave. The announcement letter has been posted here if you want to take a look. Basically, it says that the software will be available for download on June 26t [read] Keywords: connections

Mon, Jun 9th 2014 7:15a Luis Benitez As we continue our march towards the release of IBM Connections Next, there are some amazing news I would like to share according to the most recent blog entry from one of my peers in product management, Suzanne Livingston.
There you'll see IBM was compared against 13 other vendors. Suzanne and I worked very closely with Forrester throughout this process and needless to say, we are extremely excited with the results.
This is another perfect case where timing couldn't have been better [read] Keywords: connections
