IBM Connections 220.127.116.11 Now Available
Over the weekend IBM released
IBM Connections 18.104.22.168. I don't intend to cover all the new stuff here, but I figured I would highlight a few things.
First, the release adds new support for Internet Explorer 9 and Firefox 9. Second, there's now integration with IBM Sametime 8.5.2 for presence awareness. Just as before with Sametime 8.5.1, users can see who is online in Connections without installing any additional software on their desktops. This is very cool because it rapidly speeds adoption and eliminates barriers to collaboration. If you are looking for the instructions on how to do that, you can find it here.
Third, administrators who like to run their servers on the latest release of RedHat, they'll be happy to know that
RedHat EL 6.1 is now supported as well.
There's also several new controls available to specify how to sort and filter forums (e.g. by answered status), who can respond to community forums (e.g. members-only or everyone), and the ability to specify the default view for forums. I don't intend to cover all the new stuff here, but you can find the fix list for this release is
Ready to get started? Good! Here are the installation
instructions to upgrade and you can download the actual fix pack from here. --------------------- http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/SocializeMe/~3/_G6kvhZITQI/ibm-connections-3011-now-available.html Mar 19, 2012 45 hits

Mobile Comparison of IBM Connections & Yammer
Tue, Aug 19th 2014 6:16a Luis Benitez I typically get questions about how collaboration platforms compare, especially in a post-PC, mobile first era. The term was made popular by Steve Jobs in 2007 (though first coined at MIT), and 3 months ago Microsoft CEO said the company had entered the post-PC era. So mobile.. a critical capability. Can't be without it. It's essential.
So here we are in 2014 -- a post-PC / Mobile First era, so let's take a look at comparing the mobile collaboration capabilities provided by IBM, with th [read] Keywords: collaboration
The United Nations Comes Together with IBM Connections
Mon, Aug 18th 2014 6:12a Luis Benitez Today I wanted to share this video which has an amazing story on how the United Nations uses collaboration and social business technologies together and apply them to solve world problems with IBM Connections.
Salem Avan, Chief of Knowledge Management, shares how the UN charter of 1945 establishes how they are responsible for saving succeeding generations from the scourge of war.
To do that, he says, it was required to take a collective approach. So, in 2009, they started take advantage [read] Keywords: collaboration
TemboSocial Plugs Into IBM Connections and Takes Ideation To The Next Level
Thu, Aug 14th 2014 6:13a Luis Benitez By now, I'm sure that you are aware of TemboSocial. They have been adding value to IBM Connections, the market leading enterprise social collaboration platform, and it's some great work and I've talked about them in the past.
The first add-on they created was a bit over 2 years ago when they first introduced The Hive for IBM Connections, a social recognition module.
Last year, they further integrated with the IBM Connections platform by taking advantage of new integration points and ext [read] Keywords: collaboration
The IBM Connections 5.0 Reviewer's Guide is Now Available in the iBook Store
Mon, Aug 4th 2014 6:13a Luis Benitez By now you are probably aware that the IBM Connections 5.0 Reviewer's Guide is available as shared by one of my teammates in the product management team, Albert Nichols.
For a while now, I've been wondering how we can make this more widely available and perhaps add even more value to this great asset. Earlier in the year (if I remember correctly), I had heard that Apple had made iBooks Author a free app and decided to take that for a spin and see what I could do with it. And given the rece [read] Keywords: connections

Jabborate Brings Jabber and WebEx into IBM Connections
Tue, Jul 15th 2014 6:12a Luis Benitez This is one of those cases were timing couldn't have been better. Just a few days ago someone was asking me about the possibility to integrate Cisco's Jabber and WebEx with the market leading social collaboration platform IBM Connections.
Anyway, then as I was catching up with my feeds I ran into a new presentation from Jabborate. Don't you just love it when knowledge comes to you instead of you having to go out and search for it?
So here's the deal. There are 3 types of integration [read] Keywords: collaboration
