Found this at the doctor’s office on a recent visit. It made me chuckle. Hopefully it isn’t used to test the effectiveness of the sponsor’s product. “Mr. Johnson, I believe we have found the dose that works for you.” [read] Keywords: office

BlackBerry and Lotus Notes Out-of-office Agent
Wed, Jan 27th 2010 10:58a   Matt Cook
Had someone come to me saying he enabled his out-of-office agent on the BlackBerry, later disabled it, then checked it in his Notes client to make sure it was disabled. He received an error message similar to “Notes error: This agent contains an illegally added ‘On behalf’ attribute.” Simple solution I thought, would be to [...] [read] Keywords: agent lotus notes notes client blackberry office

How My Mileage Varied
Fri, Sep 25th 2009 11:54p   Matt Cook
When reviewing Planet Lotus recently, I came across this Stephan Wissel entry re: minimizing your server downtime when upgrading Domino. As we had several sites with server lease swaps pending, I decided to try it out and test the procedure. Typically at the smaller sites, I will take down the current server, copy the data over into [...] [read] Keywords: domino lotus planet lotus server

The Domino Encounter
Wed, Aug 26th 2009 10:59a   Matt Cook
A few years ago I found the entire Sierra Space Quest series in the bargain bin for $9.99.  I loved the Sierra games when I was a kid so I picked it up and began working my way through the games again. For those of you that don’t know, the earlier games were two-dimensional graphically and the [...] [read] Keywords: domino

BlackBerry Flashing Red Light of Death on Device Software Upgrade
Fri, Aug 14th 2009 11:53a   Matt Cook
A new version of device software for the Curve was released.  In trying to upgrade, the BlackBerry died, wouldn’t power on, and just flashed the red light twice, paused, then flashed again in the same pattern. I tried nuking the device from BlackBerry Manager.  No change. A simple Google search on blackberry flashing red light twice let [...] [read] Keywords: blackberry google

GroupShield for Domino 7 Database Scanner Crash
Wed, Aug 5th 2009 11:20p   Matt Cook
Currently running GroupShield for Domino 7 with patch 1, patch 2, and a hotfix. Within the past two weeks started seeing crashes (faults and restarts) on one of our Domino servers. NSD indicated the fatal thread was in DatabaseScanner. Opened a service request with McAfee who sent a hotfix that resolves issues [...] [read] Keywords: domino nsd database

Build Internet Mail Access List Using Domino Agent and HTTP
Thu, Nov 2nd 2006 12:45a   Matt Cook
Due to an overwhelming volume of spam, we were desperately in need of a solution to cut down on our inbound volume so our spam filters could handle the load. Blacklists were considered unacceptable due to business risk and our firewalls currently do not support lookups to an LDAP directory to verify deliverable addresses. They [...] [read] Keywords: agent domino

From Foreign SMTP Domains and Connection Documents to Mail Relays
Tue, Sep 19th 2006 10:02p   Matt Cook
We route outbound internet mail over NRPC using foreign SMTP domain and connection documents. We also hold undeliverable mail on our Domino servers before sending to our firewalls for delivery. We have a maximum message size of twenty megabytes. Any messages over five megabytes in size are held as low priority and will route during [...] [read] Keywords: domino smtp

Domino Sign Agents to Run on Behalf Of
Tue, Sep 19th 2006 9:45p   Matt Cook
This is a nice addition to Domino 6 that I have found quite useful. It allows the enabling of the out-of-office agent so that messages appear to come from the user by simply setting the run on behalf of the mailbox owner in the agent properties. As long as you have this privilege on the security [...] [read] Keywords: agent domino office properties security

A Quick Way to Create Mail Files on Remote Servers
Fri, Mar 17th 2006 11:30p   Matt Cook
I am sure someone has already used this but I actually did it today and thought it rather neat. Had a request for a group calendar in Notes. Creating the database over the WAN takes quite a bit of time as I was using the standard R6 mail template for the design which is 13 megabytes [...] [read] Keywords: domino notes R6 template database

Notes View Performance and Selection Formula
Fri, Mar 17th 2006 11:21p   Matt Cook
Panicked call that a Notes database is causing serious clocking and people can’t get any work done. Developer says it is fine on my laptop, must be a server issue. Check the view in question, signature indicates it was modified within the past week. Clocks when opened and when refreshed, for minutes. Look at view [...] [read] Keywords: domino formula notes database laptop server
