IBM Sametime 8.5.2: Some thing I learned during installation
Fri, Jan 20th 2012 10:23a Michael Urspringer Just for my reminder for the next time here are two things I learned today during a Sametime 8.5.2 installation. I did a test installation following the instructions in Frank’s presentation.
However the installation of the Meeting Server failed with the following error:
ADMA0158I: [EJBDeploy] Error executing deployment: java.lang.RuntimeException. Error is Application “com.ibm.etools.ejbdeploy.batch_extension” could not be found in the registry.

Lotus Quickr (Domino): Increase number of feed entries
Tue, Jan 17th 2012 8:43a Michael Urspringer By default RSS feeds in Lotus Quickr (Domino) display only the last 10 entries. If you would like to see more entries in your feed reader, you need to modify the feed URL. Just add the keyword “pageSize=NN” to the URL where “NN” is the number of entries you would like to see.
E.g. if you want to see the last 50 entries instead of the last 10 entries for the following feed:

Lotus Quickr Connector: Re-Enable Bubble Notifications
Mon, Jan 16th 2012 10:42a Michael Urspringer The Quickr connector displays a notification if a document has been successfully uploaded or if an error occured. However it could be that these notifications suddenly no longer appear. This could be e.g. if another program disables notifications completely.
You can re-enable these notifications by setting the following registry key:

Lotus Quickr (Domino): Create a new SEARCH.NSF
Tue, Jan 3rd 2012 7:03a Michael Urspringer It is not really new but just to make sure anybody is aware of it:
In earlier versions of Quickr, creating a new SEARCH.NSF for a Quickr place was a manual process. With Quickr 8.5.1 and a current fixpack level (not sure which fixpack exactly introduced it…) you do have a QPTOOL command available to do the job.
Just run delete the existing SEARCH.NSF of a Quickr place and create it by running the following command on the Domino console:
load qptool createsearch -p

Do never use a certifier for organizational unit or organization for Quickr (Domino) users (also valid if using LDAP!) which is named “/QP”. “/QP” is used internally by Quickr and you will get into trouble in this case. Lotus Quickr (Domino): Maximum Size of Lists
Mon, Jan 2nd 2012 11:03a Michael Urspringer There was a question regarding the maximum size of lists in Quickr (Domino) and the related parameters in QPCONFIG.XML. Here are the answers from support:
There is no enforced limit on the number of rows, if the “lists/sizeOfList” element is commented out in qpconfig.xml. If that line is not commented out, then the maximum number of rows is the value of the “lists/sizeOflList” element in qpconfig.xml.
The maximum number of columns allowed in a list is 64.

Lotus Sametime: People Search not working
Mon, Jan 2nd 2012 10:43a Michael Urspringer At a customer we did have the problem that the people search within the Lotus Sametime client was no longer working.
The users did get the message “Required directory or configuration information is missing” and in SAMETIME.LOG you could see the error “Open directory has failed – internal error (0×3)”.
The customer was using Lotus Domino as LDAP server. The problem could be solved by setting the LDAP timeout value back to 0 seconds (which is also the default). [read] Keywords: connections

Domino 8.5.3: PIRC

Purge Interval Replication Control (PIRC) is a new replication setting which is designed to prevent old documents which may have been deleted from replicating back into a database after their deletion stubs have been purged.

Quickr: “QPWS: Error. Could not open temp file …”
Wed, Oct 5th 2011 8:43a Michael Urspringer Customer reported the following Quickr 8.5.1 (Domino) problems:
Error message on the Domino console “QPWS: Error. Could not open temp file to read.”
Users can upload documents via WebUI and Quickr connector but the documents appear to be empty and no attachment is inside.
Users get the message “Unknown Error: 500″ in te connector while trying to open existing documents.

Change Dropbox folder name
Tue, Sep 20th 2011 4:02a Michael Urspringer Dropbox does not allow you to set the name of the root folder for Dropbox on your Windows PC. It is always called “Dropbox”. If you want to change that name you need to change it manually by editing the configuration file.

Lotus Domino Admin Client: Disable loading of Datadomino files

The NOTES.INI variable
ADMIN_CLIENT_SKIP_DOMINO=1
prevents loading of the files in the datadomino directory of the server. This speeds up the loading time of the “Files” tab in the Lotus Domino Administration client.
You need to set that variable in the NOTES.INI of the Domino server.

Quickr Connector: Maximum allowed file name length

Lotus Quickr Connectors HF 7 installation
Wed, Jun 8th 2011 12:42a Michael Urspringer In the package of the Lotus Quickr Connector HF7 you will find several files which were not existing in earlie versions. These files are not needed for the connectos but have been included unintentionally.
To update the connectors on the Quickr server you just neeed to copy the file QKRCONN.EXE to the path “dominohtml” and replace the existing one. You can delete the “buildinfo.txt” in the same directory as it is no longer needed.

Sametime 8.5.1: No user/password prompt in iPhone web client
Thu, Dec 16th 2010 8:01a Michael Urspringer If you are using the Sametime 8.5.1 web client for the iPhone and only the Sametime logo is visible and there is no prompt for user and password to login, then you might have disabled guest logins for web clients.
This issue is fixed in 8.5.1.1. If you need to get it working in 8.5.1 you need to enable guest login for Sametime web clients. To do this, edit the file “stproxyconfig.xml” which can be found in “profilesconfigcellsnodesserversSTProxyServer>”.

Quickr 8.5 (Domino): Remove h_VersionType from NOTES.INI
Tue, Oct 5th 2010 12:44p Michael Urspringer Please check if you do have the parameter “h_VersionType” in your NOTES.INI of a Quickr 8.5 (Domino) server. This parameter was used to make sure that documents which were created with a pre-8.1 release of Quickr do have versioning enabled. (see this wiki article).
If you do have that parameter in your NOTES.INI you really should remove it as otherwise you get strange results e.g. while creating custom forms and maybe during other operations as well. Also server console messages like [read] Keywords: domino

Mon, Sep 27th 2010 9:44a Michael Urspringer While trying to connect a Quickr 8.5 (Domino) server to an ECM system (IBM Content Manager) we were not able to login via the Quickr Web UI. Although we did implement all things described in the this Developerworks article we always got the error “Access to remote server has not been granted”.
It seemed that the Domino proxy was unable to sent the request. We enabled debugging by adding the following lines to the file “logging.properties” in jvmlib:
