What We Learned at Engage
Fri, May 12th 2017 6:54p   Peter Presnell
Being one of the major events in the ICS community, Engage provides a chance for IBM, Customers and Business Partners  to get updates on the platform and exchange thoughts and views about what the future holds. This year’s event was no exception. Business Partners During the OGS we heard IBM outline how important business partners were to its success. And then a few minutes later under the pressure of time they decide the best way to catch up was to cut the Business Partner presentations

Let’s Talk About Better Designed Apps at Engage 2017

I can’t think of a more appropriate place than Antwerp, Belgium to discuss design thinking, user experience, and UI design. For those of you who have not had the opportunity to visit Antwerp, the city is safe, the architecture designed to be beautiful and functional, built on a historically reliable foundation, and connected by an infrastructure that works — further adding to the beauty that is this city. This is a nearly perfect analogy for how we at Red Pill Now, and what we are wo

Red Pill Now is pleased it will again be represented at Engage. This year’s event is being held in Antwerp, Belgium May 8-9. This will be the third year. Without doubt this is one of the best User Groups for IBM Collaboration Software.. Organizer Theo Hesslmans does an amazing job, and usually finds some way to make each event even better than the one before. So we look forward to see what Theo and his amazing team have planned for this year. Last year we had four people from Red Pill Now

IoT The Next Big Thing For Application Development?
Wed, May 3rd 2017 6:35a   Peter Presnell
I consider myself fortunate that my career has coincided with the rise of the computer as a business tool. Over that time I have seen a series of break-out technologies that have significantly changed the way computers have not only solved business needs but also transformed that way businesses can work. Each new technology has driven innovation and business opportunities. Technology companies such as Apple, CISCO, Microsoft, Amazon, and FaceBook have all shot to prominence catering to these new

Our Views On Connect 2017
Tue, Feb 28th 2017 7:21p   Peter Presnell
Last week Devin Olson and myself had the chance to attend IBM Connect 2017 in San Francisco. It was a new venue in a new location combining some of the traditions of the past along with a few things new and different. I had the chance to hear IBM’s message, discuss the events with a number of the people who attended as well as share ideas internally with the team at Red Pill Now. The following is a summary of my thoughts from this year’s event. Application Modernization After having

Connecting With Graphs At IBM Connections
Mon, Feb 20th 2017 4:24p   Peter Presnell
Over the past 12 months Red Pill Now has continue to explore new and exciting ways in which we can exploit the potential of Graph Databases. The unique characteristics of Graph databases combined with REST APIs and the awesomeness that comes from Web Components and Material Design (via Polymer) is allowing us to transform Notes data in ways that was never possible until now. This includes modeling the structure of an entire portfolio of Notes databases, providing graph-based search for those dat

Installing and Configuring IBM Domino 9 on CentOS 6 Enterprise Linux
Wed, Nov 9th 2016 11:11p   Devin Olson
A few years ago, shortly after the release of Domino 9,  I wrote an instructional guide (along with some videos posted to YouTube) on how to install and configure IBM Domino on CentOS and posted it to dropbox.   The response was overwhelmingly positive, I had no idea so many people needed this type of guide. This year I presented a hands on workshop at AdminCamp 2016 where we went from a “bare metal” empty VM to a running Domino server, and while preparing that session I realize
