Vaadin: installation, use and integration with Lotus Domino
Wed, Oct 15th 2014 6:09a   RedTurtle Technology
I discovered Vaadin accidentally and I think that could be a good framework especially if you are a Java developer and want to create web application quickly. From Wikipedia: "The framework incorporates event-driven programming and widgets, which enables a programming model that is closer to GUI software development than traditional web development with HTML and JavaScript." A very impressive starting point is that demo, and also this tutorial. Being a Lotus Domino developer, and working [read] Keywords: domino lotus xpages application database development eclipse integration java javascript password properties server widget widgets wiki

XPages and Managed Bean: a new way to process Notes documents
Thu, Feb 6th 2014 5:09a   RedTurtle Technology
Starting from Lotus Domino 8.5, with coming of XPages but especially with the latest releases (9.0 and 9.1), application development is completely changed, especially if you are an "old-style" Domino developer. XPages and Extension Library fully integrated, together with API as replacement for lotus.domino package, now provides a brand new approach to manage documents, and this is great in terms of performance and reusability. Integration between Webservices and XPages: a true story!
Wed, Dec 4th 2013 6:13a   RedTurtle Technology
The goal I have to create a webservice consumer in Lotus Domino using the WSDL provided. What's the problem? I can use the native wizard provided by Lotus. First problem It looks like my WSDL is SOAP1.2. Domino is SOAP1.1. (aaarrrrggggghhhhh) First solution I could generate the classes for example in Eclipse and embed in Notes. Then I could call it using an agent. Ok, let's try it! Second problem It sounds good, everything seems to work fine but... out of memory error... when I st [read] Keywords: agent domino ibm ldd lotus notes xpages application eclipse integration java linux security server

A brand new Javascript library for progress activity monitoring
Tue, Oct 22nd 2013 8:09a   RedTurtle Technology
As we all know, the advent of Web 2.0 has introduced many advantages, which of course I'll not mention, such as the ability to make asynchronous calls on a page. Many times I have used this technology, using some of the most popular Javascript frameworks (Prototype, JQuery ...), but sometimes manage progress indicators can be a little bit boring. This library is right for us. Pace.js pace.js automatically monitors ajax requests, event loop lag, document ready state (onDOMReady event), an [read] Keywords: xpages ajax css integration javascript web 2.0

How to control the web layout of radio buttons in Lotus Domino form
Fri, Aug 2nd 2013 6:18a   RedTurtle Technology
I come to work every day with Lotus Domino Web applications, often in the "old way" (i.e. without the use of XPages). Although the tools provided are versatile and powerful, I came across a layout problem in the use of a radio button. Let's see what I mean.   Scenario In a Domino radio button it is possible to specify any number of options to be displayed, but on a limited number of columns (maximum 8). No matter if the need is to show eight options in eight columns but what if t [read] Keywords: domino lotus xpages applications css

Scenario: a development server, a release server and many production customers' servers: nothing more classic. Every time a change is deployed on the release server, the best thing would be to "push" it automatically on production server, or as soon as possible (at least).   We know that Lotus Domino provides the "Refresh design tool", but it requires a Lotus client installed and open, and a manual operation. Maybe you can work with replicas of the template, but, in any case, the "o [read] Keywords: administration agent connections domino ibm ldd lotus notes notes client ntf database development java server

Mixing Lotus Domino and Twitter together - a way for mobile approach
Wed, Nov 28th 2012 9:08a   RedTurtle Technology
It's always more important to develop applications that are accessible from any device so we wondered what it takes to adapt an application, perhaps already developed, to ensure this possibility. In this case, Twitter provides its layout via Twitter Bootstrap, so it was decided to integrate it. Twitter Bootstrap requires the HTML 5 doctype as you can see in the documentation. Since version 8.5.3 Lotus Domino allows to define, for the XPages, this kind of doctype, in this way: Next step [read] Keywords: domino ibm lotus xpages application applications css javascript mobile profile twitter xml

"Error cleaning up agent threads" - a never ending story
Thu, Apr 12th 2012 6:08a   RedTurtle Technology
There are thousands of posts on Lotus Domino forum about this problem: "Error cleaning up agent threads". I ran into a similar problem using a Java agent. I state that this agent has been inherited from another developer ;-) so it was not easy for me to initially understand what the problem could be. In any case, every time the agent ended, I had the above error to the log. In truth, none of the posts that I've seen has been helpful, until, by inspecting the code carefully and isolating th [read] Keywords: agent domino lotus java

Problems with charset in 8.5.1 environment
Thu, Jul 21st 2011 6:09a   RedTurtle Technology
In this scenario, i've experienced some problems with UTF-8 charset in strings. In 6.5 environment everithing works fine. This is my code in a Java agent: org.w3c.dom.Document docXML = attachSegnatura.parseXML(false); XSLTResultTarget out = new XSLTResultTarget(); out.setFileName(path + "SegnaturaRT.xml"); attachSegnatura.transformXML(xsl, out); DOMParser parser = new DOMParser(); parser.parse(path + "SegnaturaRT.xml"); org.w3c.dom.Document docRT = ((DOMParser)parser).getDocument(); [read] Keywords: agent java xml
