IBM Notes Traveler Daily Business – Administration, Monitoring and Troubleshooting IBM Notes Traveler is increasingly becoming an important component in business since working with mobile devices is the rule rather than the exception. Updates on the latest Outlook iOS App issues
Sun, Feb 1st 2015 11:29a   Rene Winkelmeyer
First of all: I haven’t expected that my previous blog post would create such a buzz… As I’ve received a great number of comment, mails, re-posts, re-tweets and so forth I’m taking this to get into some more details. Some background about me I spent the last four years nearly exclusively in the mobile area in building products for Mobile Device Management, Mobile File Sharing and securing Mobile PIM. Not talking about my experience in several administration topics inclu

Warning ? Microsofts Outlook app for iOS breaks your company security
Thu, Jan 29th 2015 11:04a   Rene Winkelmeyer
Microsoft has released their iOS for Outlook today. And it will break your companies security for mobile PIM access in multiple ways! No matter if you’re a Microsoft Exchange or IBM Notes Traveler customer. I cannot believe that Microsoft has done what they’ve done. Even as a non-Microsoft guy I would have expected that they obey the rules of common company security rules. File sharing capabilities The app has built-in connectors to OneDrive, Dropbox and Google Drive. That means a

Speaking at EntwicklerCamp about iOS and Vaadin development
Tue, Jan 20th 2015 12:02a   Rene Winkelmeyer
I’ll be speaking at this years EntwicklerCamp (March 2-4, hosted by IBM Champion Rudi Knegt) about two development topics. From Idea to App “We need this data available on our mobile devices.” – an often heard requirement these days. But what needs to be done to achieve this? Learn in this session the steps to use your data, like that in IBM Domino, within a native iOS app. You’ll get a grasp on the MVC pattern in the Xcode IDE and see the benefits of the new Swift programming la

Vaadin certified
Tue, Jan 13th 2015 12:05a   Rene Winkelmeyer
I’m a big fan of proving my knowledge. Not only in my day-to-day job, but also in testing my (theoretical) knowledge in doing certification tests. As of yesterday I went down the road of becoming a Vaadin 7 Certified Developer.

Vaadin does client-side debugging right
Wed, Jan 7th 2015 12:16a   Rene Winkelmeyer
One of the caveats when using server-side frameworks is that you often don’t have real debugging possibilities for the client-side generated code. There are often no built-in tools to help the developer with that. In the XPages world for example the XPages Debug Toolbar (created by Mark Leusink) should be, besides the usual tools like Web Inspector or Firebug, your weapon of choice. As I’m not really into XPages any longer – honestly, never have been really deep into them &#
