Heard about or seen managed beans? Not sure how to actually use them in your real-life XPage application? Need an XPage dynamic table that is easily user-configurable, is very fast and allows users to save document drafts? In this presentation I will take you step-by-step through the requirements, logic, development, deployment and configuration of a dynamic table solution implemented via managed beans and XPage custom controls. By the end of this presentation you will have plenty of information to enable you to use this code in your own applications, a detailed explanation of how this works and why, and a better understanding of when, how and why to use managed beans in your own XPage applications. Everything is easy once you know how.
10:30 AM - 11:30 AM Presentation: Using A Mobile Approach: Proven Strategies For Mobilizing Your IBM Lotus Domino Applications Presenter: Graham Acres, President, Brytek Systems
This session presents strategies to employ when planning to build a mobile application within your Lotus Domino environment. Whether you are a project manager, admin, developer or business leader, this session is for you. Using a real-world coast-to-coast mobile customer service application implementation project as an example, the presentation will address the challenges organizations face in first-time mobile projects and the strategies that work as a result. What devices will I support? Does the business team understand the user interface considerations of a smartphone or tablet vs a browser or Notes client when providing requirements? Does the admin team have the skills to support the mobile environment? Can I take advantage of my existing Domino infrastructure and skills? How will I test and support the app? How will the application be deployed? You will leave with an understanding of the key considerations involved in building a mobile application strategy for your organization.

Tue, Feb 11th 2014 10:10a Richard Moy Again this year, I did not attend IBMConnect. Last year it was for personal reasons, this year it did not make sense given the direction that I see IBMConnect heading towards. However, I really appreciated that IBM had a number of sessions live and recorded on Livestream for me to watch. What I really miss is not the sessions, but seeing the people within our community. But that is OK since I will most likely see them at ICON and MWLUG. And I always have Twitter. The most compelling session f [read] Keywords: admin
The End of an Era
Mon, Jan 20th 2014 9:10a Richard Moy As some know we are celebrating our 23th anniversary as entrepreneurs this year. It has been full of highs and lows. One of most fun achievement that we had was in the first couple of years as ReCor. Now it is most standard corporate training with ReCor and social collaboration and BPM technology with Phora Group and our iPhora solutions. As one starts out, you try to determine your bearings. Usually reality hits and you throw out all the business plans and marketing stuff. So early on we [read] Keywords: collaboration
Optimizing Dojo Loading for Bootstrap Widgets
Tue, Jan 7th 2014 1:10p Richard Moy Over the past year, one of our major efforts for our iPhora products was to switch from using Dojo Dijit widgets to only Bootstrap widgets. One of the problems that we have seen with Dijit widgets is that they take a long time to load and are very heavy compared with JQuery based Bootstrap widgets. The advantage of JQuery-based Bootstrap widgets is that they are loaded all at once as a single file. This is great to minimize the loading speed. However, it does not lend itself to easy maintenanc [read] Keywords: domino

db.FTSearch != Ubuntu Server
Fri, Oct 25th 2013 11:13a Richard Moy We ran into a db.FTSearch problem with a customer a few years ago. Full indexed search failed on PDF and DOCX file attachments. For other attachments it worked fine. We were using Ubuntu 10.4 LTS. Searching through Notes.net we could only find a few references to db.FTsearch and Linux regarding these two file formats, but all the postings provided no resolution to the issue. Fortunately, when we moved the database to production on a Windows server, the db.FTsearch for PDFs and DOCX files work [read] Keywords: domino
MWLUG 2013 Wrap Up
Wed, Aug 28th 2013 9:14a Richard Moy MWLUG 2013 has come and gone. It was one of the best MWLUG conferences that we ever had. Josh Bleill and Scott Souder were great presenting at the OGS and if you missed Darren Duke's presentation, you missed one of the highlights of MWLUG 2013. The food was great and the Grand Hall where the OGS, exhibitor showcase, and food was served was unbelievable.
If you missed, Catherine Emert's assorted cookies that she brought to MWLUG 2013, then you must wait another year to experien [read] Keywords: collaboration
