Eniac’s Widgets for Lotus Connections
Suzanne O Minassian-Livingston

Have you seen the Widgets that Eniac built on the Lotus Connections platform? You may know that Connections allows you extend the out of box UI with custom widgets, and here are a few of the widgets available from this partner!

Learn more about them here.

"...We created your first set of widget and we will publish these in a widget catalog in the future. Most of the development is done in Lotus Connections since we love this platform and would really want to push apps to this platform.

The Widgets

Right now, we provide six widgets in the catalog. New widgets are under development, and new and innovative ideas on which kind of widgets should be developed next are always welcome.

The following widgets are ready for deployment at our customers’ site:
  • CRM contacts.

Based on our own CRM product, this widget targets the need to quickly access contact information, regardless of the platform one is currently using. Using type ahead functions, this widget allows fast and effective searching of the CRM database. This widget is available for WebSphere Portal, Lotus Notes and Lotus Connections. And due to the service oriented setup of this widget, it can be easily enhanced to connect to another CRM provider.
  • Profiles Calendar. Tightly tied in the Profiles functionality of Lotus Connections, this widget shows a calendar and all meetings that day of a person next to his or her profile. image
  • Poll. This widget allows organizations to quickly put up a poll to ask its employees for their opinion.image
  • Bulletin Board. This widget allows organizations to inform its employees throughout all platforms used by it. image
  • Quickr Places. This widget shows an overview of all Quickr places which can be navigated, providing links to the documents in Quickr itself. image
  • Holidays. Based on the holiday application Eniac uses internally as part of a HRM application, this allows employees to see an overview of the amount of days they took off this year, the amount still left and also provides functionality to request a new holiday. image

Community Landing Page Experience
Wed, Feb 3rd 2010 11:13a   Joseph Russo
Today, in communities, the "landing page" for the service brings the user to the Public Communities list view...and additionally, they can click to see the My Communities list view... After hearing lots of feedback and comments from customers, I've been thinking about how to redesign this experience and it seems to fall into these categories; 1. New user When a new user, someone who's not joined any or just a small # (3 or less, or some other reasonable small #) it probably makes sense [read] Keywords: connections synch.rono.us community network wiki

Wed, Jan 27th 2010 11:07a   Suzanne O Livingston
Awhile back we gave you a link to a video describing Mainsoft's integration efforts of Lotus Connections and Rational Team Concert. Well, not too long ago, more information was released in InfoWorld, CMSWire, Search Software Quality, and more regarding Mainsoft's press release on the topic. One of the benefits of this type of integration is the context it provides for engineers and for project stakeholders.
