Fri, Apr 29th 2016 11:27a   Ulrich Krause
I have uploaded a new version of ONTF DomBackup. Version 1.0.0.5 contains updated binaries for Windows 32/64 Bit. It adresses an issue that leads to data losses when compressing files larger 2GB. The issue is described here. The issue is Windows related only! The fixed version uses 7Zip as an external compression tool.

Windows Fixpack Update Idiocy
Sun, Feb 28th 2016 3:12a   Ulrich Krause
Today I decided to install some recommended and optional fixes on my “productive” Windows 2008 R2 /64 Server. In general, this has been a straight-forward task in the past. Select all fixes and click Install. Grab a new cup of coffee, restart the machine after upgrade and carry on with daily business. As always, I looked for Continue reading →

[Vaadin] – Create a simple twin column modal multi-select dialog
Sat, Jan 30th 2016 4:29a   Ulrich Krause
Vaadin is an open source Web application framework for rich Internet applications. In contrast to JavaScript libraries and browser-plugin based solutions, it features a server-side architecture, which means that the majority of the logic runs on the servers. Ajax technology is used at the browser-side to ensure a rich and interactive user experience. On the Continue reading →

Latest Windows 10 update completely wrecked my dev environment
Tue, Jan 5th 2016 3:00a   Ulrich Krause
I am doing dev with Visual Studio and other tools and programs on a Windows 10 VM. Today, I decided to check for updates and install them, because I had not done any update for the past 2 month. In general, these updates do not d any harm to the installed system, but today was different. Continue reading →

Telekom, O-Zwei und ich
Wed, Dec 2nd 2015 12:16p   Ulrich Krause

Build Windows executables on Linux
Fri, Oct 23rd 2015 3:34a   Ulrich Krause
If you have to build a binary ( .exe, .dll, … ) from source code for LINUX and WINDOWS, you need at least one build environment for each operating system. In today’s world, this is not a big deal, because we can have as many virtual machines as we want thanks to VMWARE ( or VirtualBox Continue reading →

[C++] – A plain simple sample to write to and read from shared memory
Tue, Sep 15th 2015 3:52a   Ulrich Krause
If you have two programs ( or two threads ) running on the same computer, you might need a mechanism to share information amongst both programs or transfer values from one program to the other. One of the possible solutions is “shared memory”. Most of us know shared memory only from server crashes and the like. Here Continue reading →

[How To] – Create your own IBM Notes Splash Screen
Sat, Sep 12th 2015 2:47a   Ulrich Krause
Inspired from Thomas Bahn’s post, I started to play with the IBM Notes Start Screen. My first “creation” was “YellowVerse 9“. This technote describes what you need to replace the original start screen with your own creation. It is important, that you save your image as Windows BMP. This is the only format that the IBM Notes client Continue reading →
