Configuration step recommendation for Sametime stand-alone MUX to enable load balancing
notesbusters

http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21577644&myns=swglotus&mynp=OCSSKTXQ&mync=R

I have been researching some Sametime issues and came across this config item. The MUX is one of my favorite Sametime components as it can really drastically increase your system’s capacity for concurrent active accounts (awaremenss and chat). I will be trying thissetting out in my own system soon.

Open Mic Webcast : Linux for the IBM Sametime Admin (04/09/2014)
Tue, Apr 1st 2014 6:12a   Victor Toal
Marlon Machado posted this on the Sametime blog (link below) yesterday. Since there is allot of Linux all over the place, I suggest this as a webcast to listen to. If you still live in a Windows only server world, it is only a amtter of time until your boss tells you that there are maybe some Linux machines coming your way …. As you probably know by now IBM’s commitment to the Linux platform is broad and deep. That includes, of course, IBM Sametime. We’re steadily expanding an [read] Keywords: admin connections ibm sametime desktop development linux server

WebSphere – The Basics on Security, Directories and Federated Repositories
Sun, Mar 16th 2014 9:13a   Victor Toal
I had promised earlier this year to post more content (other than opinion and news) so I am now catching up on my promise. This post was inspired by a combined WebSphere – IBM Connections review review I did for a client earlier this year, along with some content from my IBM Connections admin training that I offer and that the same client asked me to give after they read my review of their environment. This is the first in a small series of blog-posts on security and configuration in WebSp [read] Keywords: admin connections domino ibm applications interface linux microsoft openoffice password profile properties security server websphere xml

Rebranding of Notes Mail / Connections Mail and Consequences – #RebrandingFail
Wed, Feb 12th 2014 2:11p   Victor Toal
I received this marketing/sales email earlier today and reading it made me a bit confused and also concerned. Not because I think that IBM and email is going away, but because f the way that IBM has initialized it’s latest round of rebranding Notes (aka Connections Mail) there is confusion in the marketplace and this is a great example for what clients are going to be bombarded with: Dear Victor, IBM is ending the “Lotus” brand, and has been building more functionality into “IBM Conn [read] Keywords: connections domino ibm lotus notes email

Connections Certified – Finally!
Thu, Jan 30th 2014 2:10p   Victor Toal
As if yesterday I am now finally IBM Connections certified: I had had just no time previously but here at Connect the certification tests are all free for participants so I went for it – and past! It was about time too, having worked with Connections for the last 6 years not having a certification just seemed strange. I do not test well (my dyslexia makes it hard for me) but I guess doing all these crazy IBM Connections projects finally paid off. Yippie! Lotus Protector and the endless search
Wed, Jan 15th 2014 7:10a   Victor Toal
I have been helping a client with a new Lotus Protector setup and I ran into a new problem for the first time myself and as I can’t find anything on the web or in the documentation this is a prime candidate for a blog entry: By default Lotus protector is accessible by two ports: https on port 443 for the admin interface and over https on port 4443 for the client access (e.g. the Notes client displaying your spam queue). I had never felt it necessary to change this before but my current cli [read] Keywords: admin ibm ldd lotus notes notes client protector integration interface

2014 – What is waiting at the starting line for this year?
Wed, Jan 8th 2014 9:11a   Victor Toal
Since I finally got back to my bog and wrote a short / brief “2013-in-a-nutshell” post, I thought it might be time to also look ahead. There is allot hat I am working on, here the short list: Connect2014 Yes, I mentioned I am going and what my (not very short) list of must-see presentations are. The other reason I like to go is that is a great time to talk to vendors and colleagues to see where the market and technology is going and what clients are (likely/maybe/hopefully) looking [read] Keywords: admin administration connections domino ibm lotus lotusphere notes sametime integration vm

2013 in review – My Blog Stats
Tue, Dec 31st 2013 9:12a   Victor Toal
As far as blogging goes, 2013 was not my most productive … but this will likely change in the near future with some more regular posts and interesting technical tidbits I hope! See you guys at Conenct 2014? The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2013 annual report for this blog. Here’s an excerpt: The concert hall at the Sydney Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 11,000 times in 2013. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take abo [read] Keywords: blogging
