Scripting Connections wsadmin commands in a clustered environment
Fri, Aug 21st 2015 6:10a   Wannes Rams
Recently I was creating a script to deactivate and reactivate a specific user (base of the script thanks to Christoph Stoetner) This script was running nicely on my Dev environment, but once I transferred it to my Pre-prod the script would prompt me with the following: As I have Activities, and all other services running on multiple nodes it wants to know what server I want to connect to. I tried to fiddle around trying to respond in my script but that approach did not work. I opened a pmr with

Enable verbose garbage collection on all servers in cluster using jacl
Tue, Aug 11th 2015 4:59a   Wannes Rams
Today I needed to enable verbose garbage collections on all production servers to troubleshoot a potential memory leak. As we have 30 application servers in our clusters and using the web interface would require multiple clicks and page load times, I created a little script to do this. This can of course be altered to change other parameters, and ideally being put in a function so it can be called using the clustername and cellname as parameters. ###### # Enable Verbose Garbage collection for a

Speaking at IconUK 2015
Mon, Aug 10th 2015 9:49a   Wannes Rams
I have been selected to speak at IconUK 2015 21 and 22 of november. After having to cancel last year for personal reasons (thx to Klaus Bild for doing the presentation on his own) I am very happy to be selected again. I will speak about how to manage LDAP changes in IBM Connections when you have CCM, Cognos and Forms installed. What is the impact, tips on what to look out for and how to prepare… The 2 day conference is packed with content from great speakers and I really look forward to my

As we are all in full holiday mode, the Social Connections team is accelerating the pace on preparations for our next event in Stuttgart November 5 and 6. Over the last 2 weeks we have opened call for abstracts, registration and call for sponsors. First sponsor deals are being discussed, registrations and abstracts are slowly finding their way to us. We will continue our effort and try to announce our keynote speakers asap and we will keep you informed of any progress. I hope to see you all ver

Social Connections VII Stockholm, looking back
Sat, Nov 15th 2014 3:38a   Wannes Rams
Sitting in a very tiny little Swedish airportwaiting for a 4,5 hour delayed fligth is the perfect excuse to write a little roundup on the Social Connections event. This 7th version was a bit special for me, it w the 4th one I attended, but after being a visitor in Cardiff and a speaker in Amsterdam and Prague, this one was a bit different. Yes I had a session ( together with Klaus Bild), but there is mor to it. for the first time i was part of the organisation team for the event. I jumped on thi

How to update the IBM Connections Favicons
Tue, Sep 30th 2014 4:55a   Wannes Rams
Every Connections application has its own favicon. Our current customer wants to replace them by 1 corporate favicon. After looking trough the documentation, we found that this is not very well documented. Therefore this article. After some help from IBM support and some help from Salim to rectify an error in the feedback from support this is what you need to do Locate the customization directory location by referencing the WebSphere variable CONNECTIONS_CUSTOMIZATION_PATH. Once located, place y

I will not be speaking @ ICONUK
Tue, Sep 9th 2014 6:12a   Wannes Rams
A big disappointment for myself. I will not be speaking at the IconUK conference. I had a session set up with Klaus Bild. So I am letting down a lot of people. Klaus, the organization and myself. Thanks to Klaus I won’t have to let down the people that had this session on their agenda, as Klaus will takover the session on his own. Thx Klaus. My cancellation is due to not getting travel approval….. On top of that I was looking forward to meet up with some people and watch some great s

IBM WebSphere on Raspberry PI
Fri, Sep 5th 2014 1:29a   Wannes Rams
I happen to have a Raspberry PI at home connected to my tv to stream content from my NAS to my television. I think it does a great job, but I could not imagine using it for something work related. And then I came across this article¬†from Simon Maple¬†on running the IBM WebSphere Liberty profile an a Raspberry PI. Next step, IBM Connections on Raspberry PI?? I guess we won’t be running any enterprise apps on this platform, but it shows how valuable the new Liberty profile truly is from a r
