Some days ago I tried to install the latest CFix for Connections 7 in a customer environment and ran into the problem that every time I started the updateInstaller the disk was completely filled and the updateInstaller just quitted.

After some investigation the problem could be found and fixed: an old trace setting for Kerberos tracing was responsible for this issue. The parameter which caused the problem was located in the wsadmin.properties file of the DMGr:

com.ibm.ws.scripting.traceString=com.ibm.*=all

This parameter created an almost 70GB trace file for each and every wsadmin command from the updateInstaller !! After remarking this parameter and restarting the DMgr the installation finished without any troubles. So check this parameter in your environment 😉
